EXECUTIVE LABORATORY, SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

Job Description:

A. Finance Prospective

1. Assisting in projects for external parties and consultancy of the laboratory facilities

2. Assisting in CPD/ workshop events organised by the school

3. Income generating through free good/services by third party

B. Customer Prospective

1. Monitoring cleanliness regarding premises, equipment and working surfaces

2. Ensuring functionality of laboratory facilities and equipment

C. Internal Process

1. Ensuring lab booking by cohort-in-charge.

2. Ensuring the laboratory indent form is submitted by academician prior to usage.

3. Ensuring preparation of chemical/apparatus laboratory session.

4. Assisting academic staff and training for lab staff/ students on the equipment/ apparatus/ chemicals process flow or procedural guidance if needed.

5. Ensuring calibration/ maintenance of all equipment to be done as scheduled.

6. Ensuring stock check for all equipment/ apparatus/ chemicals is performed and documented monthly.

7. Ensuring expired chemicals write off is worth less than certain value.

8. Procurement, document preparation and keeping appropriate records of purchases and confirming safe arrival of all purchased item.

9. Looks up and assembles needed information and material in the preparation of reports and in the handling of correspondence.

10. Waste disposal management

11. Updating, upholding and maintaining the Laboratory Safety Plan/ Manual, SDS manual and PPE usage.

12. Monitoring laboratory assistants in performing routine laboratory duties such as replenishing consumables and cleaning tools.

13. Monitoring laboratory assistants in ensuring cleaning/ organizing laboratory areas are done by cleaners.

14. Monitoring lab and instrument usage.

15. Development, updating, revising and maintaining the laboratory’s Quality Assurance, Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and other quality documents.

16. Filing management system

D. Employee Development & Improvement Perspective

1. Attending internal or external including laboratory competency related training program.

E. Other Responsibilities

1. Ensuring participation in internal/ external activities.

2. Involving in school level committee actively.

3. Ensuring membership in Professional Membership/ Editorial Membership/ CSR/ Consultancy/ Other NGO bodies

4. Involving in audit (MQA/Pharmacy Board/ISO/Internal Audit).

5. May occasionally involves in commissioning and planning for renovation/ project for laboratory and new projects

6. Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the university policy and to the laboratory quality assurance processes.

7. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of quality improvement.

8. Special task based on instruction from superior.

F. Safety and Health Responsibilites

1. Reporting unsafe practices, conditions, near misses, incidents and accidents to General Manager and Secretary of the Safety and Health Committee.

2. Comply with Company policies, Health and Safety policies.

3. To take reasonable care for the safety and health of himself and other persons who may be affected by his acts or omission at work.

4. To co-operate with Management of KPJUC in the discharge of any duty or requirement imposed on the Management by the Occupational Safety and Health Act or any Regulations made therein.

5. To wear or always use any personal protective equipment or clothing provided by the Management KPJUC prevents risks to his/her safety and health.

6. To comply with any instruction or measure on Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations made therein.

7. To establish and maintain the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHS).

8. To establish and maintain any related quality and risk & opportunities in Quality Management System of the department and school.

Job Requirement:

Education:

     1. Degree in Medical Science/ Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent

Knowledge and Experiences:

Previous laboratory-based experience is an added advantage

Chemical/ microbiological/ drug handling skill is an added advantage

Special skills required

Lab instrument handling skill is an added advantage Knowledge is safety and first aid is an added advantage

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective project management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
