Scope of Position

The Assembler, Package Heater position is responsible for assembling a variety of mechanical and electrical subassemblies and performing bench and floor assembly to complete packaged heater units. Working from blueprints, schematics, and verbal or written instructions, this role ensures products are assembled accurately, safely, and in accordance with quality standards.  This is a union position.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This position reports to the Production Supervisor. This role is onsite and is based in Blauvelt, NY.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components into completed packaged heater units.
  • Perform bench and floor assembly operations using technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Precision-fit components to meet engineering specifications and required tolerances.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, pallet jacks, and other assembly equipment.
  • Inspect parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
  • Package components and finished equipment for shipment, ensuring proper protection, labeling, and handling requirements are met.
  • Utilize Kanban systems, including Kanban cards, to support inventory replenishment and material flow.
  • Prepare surfaces and apply paint as required to achieve high-quality finished products.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and standard work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to team productivity goals.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Production Supervisor or other company management.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and technical documents.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle parts and materials safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with all company policies.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including drug screening, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, fabrication, or a related industrial environment.
  • Experience working with Kanban systems and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience packaging industrial equipment for shipment.
  • Painting and finishing experience in a manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site in a manufacturing facility. You will be required to work at the Company’s Blauvelt, NY location. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

Pay Range:

The expected salary range for this position is $27.14- $29.82 hourly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
