JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Finishing Level: 1

Position: Fitter Level 1 staff, Level 2 Supervisor, Level 3 Manager, Level 4 Senior Manager, Level 5 Director Reporting To: Finishing Team Leader

KEY DUTIES:

• Read and interpret drawings, job packs and specifications to plan and complete fitting activities accurately. • Take accurate measurements, set out work and confirm dimensions before fitting. • Carry out the internal lining fit out of units to the required specification, quality standard and target hours. • Fit Rockwool insulation, ensuring correct thickness, full coverage, neat joints and secure fixing. • Lay vinyl flooring, including subfloor preparation, accurate cutting, neat seams and a tidy finish to edges and thresholds. • Fit UPVC and aluminium windows, ensuring they are measured, level, square, secure, sealed and checked for correct operation. • Mark, cut out and fit vents safely and accurately, including trims and sealing where required. • Measure, set out and fit studded walls, frames and doorways in line with drawings and specifications. • Build and fit base units securely, maintaining consistent alignment and finish. • Measure, cut and fix plasterboard correctly, keeping joints neat and producing a tidy finish ready for the next stage. • Check own work throughout the fitting process and raise any quality, drawing or specification issues with the Team Leader. • Work safely, maintain good housekeeping and keep work areas tidy throughout the fitting process.

 

Essential Experience & Qualifications • Trade relevant qualifications or time served. • CSCS preferred. • Driving licence preferred.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications • Recognised training. • First Aid.

Summary Of Role:

The role is responsible for carrying out the internal fitting out of units to the required drawings, specifications, quality standards and production timescales. This includes working accurately across a range of fit-out activities such as insulation, vinyl floor laying, window fitting, vent fitting, stud wall and doorway preparation, base unit fitting and plaster boarding. The postholder is expected to work safely, keep their work area tidy, check the quality of their own work, and support the completion of units to a consistent standard.

Knowledge / Skills:

• Practical fitting out skills including insulation, vinyl flooring, window fitting, vent fitting, stud wall and doorway preparation, base unit assembly and plaster boarding.

• Able to take accurate measurements, set out work and confirm dimensions prior to fitting.

• Awareness of health and safety requirements and quality standards.
