Role Summary
ON.energy is seeking a bilingual Agile Coach based in Mexico City to drive effective agile execution across engineering and technology teams. This role serves as a facilitator, coach, and process steward, helping teams and leaders adopt and consistently apply agile principles while ensuring priorities remain aligned with evolving business needs.
The ideal candidate is an experienced practitioner who can influence, mentor, and improve team effectiveness without direct authority. This individual will work across software, infrastructure, cybersecurity, industrial systems, and other technical functions, collaborating with stakeholders and distributed teams in both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Coaching and Process Stewardship
- Coach managers, team leads, and contributors on agile principles, Scrum practices, Kanban workflows, and continuous improvement.
- Promote consistent application of agile methodologies across teams while adapting practices to fit organizational needs.
- Identify process inefficiencies and partner with leaders to improve team effectiveness, predictability, and delivery outcomes.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and other team events.
- Conduct coaching sessions, workshops, and team ceremonies in both English and Spanish as needed.
- Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor leaders on servant leadership and agile management practices.
Work Management and Delivery Excellence
- Partner with leaders and stakeholders to maintain healthy backlogs and ensure work is appropriately prioritized.
- Help teams define and manage clear workflows, work item lifecycles, and delivery processes.
- Support effective use and administration of Azure DevOps for work management, traceability, dashboards, and reporting.
- Monitor agile health metrics such as velocity, cycle time, throughput, lead time, and backlog hygiene.
- Use data-driven insights to identify bottlenecks, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support teams in balancing competing priorities while maintaining focus on delivering business value.
- Improve planning, estimation, forecasting, and execution practices across teams.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Facilitate collaboration across software, infrastructure, cybersecurity, operational technology, product, operations, and business teams.
- Lead discussions around priorities, dependencies, risks, and resource constraints.
- Help stakeholders understand tradeoffs and make informed decisions regarding scope, timelines, and delivery commitments.
- Ensure transparency of progress, blockers, and key initiatives through clear reporting and dashboards.
- Coordinate across teams in Mexico, the United States, and other locations to improve alignment and delivery.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and business stakeholders in both English and Spanish.
Organizational Agility and Continuous Improvement
- Assess team maturity and develop coaching strategies tailored to team needs.
- Lead agile transformation efforts and help scale effective practices across multiple teams.
- Partner with executive leadership to align portfolio priorities, delivery objectives, and organizational goals.
- Champion organizational improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and customer value.
- Drive initiatives that improve collaboration, communication, accountability, and delivery performance.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an Agile Coach, Scrum Master, Agile Program Manager, or in a similar leadership role.
- Professional fluency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to lead meetings, facilitate workshops, coach teams, and communicate with stakeholders in both languages.
- Strong expertise in Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and modern agile delivery practices.
- Demonstrated success coaching leaders and teams across multiple functions.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps administration, work management, dashboards, and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using metrics to drive process improvement.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to influence and drive change without direct authority.
- Experience coordinating across software, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operational technology teams.
- Ability to work effectively with distributed and international teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), Certified Agile Coach, SAFe, or equivalent certification.
- Experience coaching multiple teams simultaneously in a fast-paced technology environment.
- Experience leading agile transformations or scaling agile practices across an organization.
- Familiarity with reporting and analytics platforms such as Power BI.
- Experience working across teams in Mexico and the United States.
- Experience in energy technology, industrial systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), SCADA, IoT, or related domains.
