Mfg Operator I

The Fabrication Technician is responsible for manufacturing and assembling metal or structural components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role involves operating fabrication equipment, performing welding and cutting tasks, and ensuring high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
• Perform fabrication processes such as cutting, welding, grinding, drilling, and bending
• Operate machinery (e.g., shearing machines, press brakes, CNC machines, plasma/laser cutters)
• Measure and mark materials to ensure accuracy and proper alignment
• Assemble fabricated parts and structures as per specifications
• Inspect finished workpieces for defects and ensure quality standards are met
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE at all times
• Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues and process improvements
• Maintain production and inspection records

Required Qualifications

• ITI  in Mechanical, Fabrication, Welding, or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in fabrication or manufacturing environment

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques
• Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools (vernier caliper, micrometer, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with fabrication machinery
• Attention to detail and precision
• Basic understanding of materials (steel, aluminum, alloys)
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CNC or automated fabrication equipment
• Knowledge of basic maintenance and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with quality standards and inspection procedures

Working Conditions

• Shop floor / workshop environment
• Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and heavy equipment
• May require shift work or overtime
