Founded in 2013, Amach was created to solve a specific problem in aviation: too much complexity, too little usable intelligence. We help airlines modernise their operating model using cloud, data and Al-delivered by teams with deep aviation domain expertise.
Our goal is to maximize airlines' operational efficiency by optimizing resource use, reduce costs and increase customer experience and satisfaction.
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to be embedded with our customer, working closely with their teams to support and optimise a diverse, multi-platform database estate. You will be responsible for database performance tuning, architecture review, reliability engineering and proactive monitoring across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle environments running on cloud (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud) and on-premises infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you will partner with the customer's stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in database reliability, resilience, and performance.
Key responsibilities & duties include:
- Support and assess the customer's diverse database estate across multiple platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle) in both cloud and on-premises environments, providing expert guidance on platform-specific best practices
- Analyse and optimise database performance through query tuning, indexing strategy review, execution plan analysis, and session management to identify and resolve bottlenecks
- Design, review, and validate database environments for scalability, availability, resilience, and capacity planning, including configuration assessment and resource utilisation analysis
- Establish and oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies including replication, failover mechanisms, and recovery testing to ensure the customer's recovery objectives are achievable and validated
- Implement comprehensive database monitoring and observability solutions, proactively investigating trends, identifying risks, and driving improvements to overall platform health
- Work collaboratively with the customer's technical teams to troubleshoot issues, provide root cause analysis, and recommend practical solutions
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights and industry best practices to enhance database reliability and performance
Required Experience:
- Strong working knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle across both cloud and on-premises environments including AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and traditional datacentres
- Solid understanding of query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plans, session management, and database performance analysis
- Demonstrated experience designing and reviewing database environments for scalability, availability, resilience, and capacity planning
- Good understanding of backup and restore strategies, high availability solutions, replication, failover mechanisms, and disaster recovery approaches
- Proven experience with database monitoring, observability, and proactive problem management with a naturally curious and data-driven mindset
Desirable skills:
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for database deployment and configuration management
- Familiarity with database security hardening, compliance frameworks, and access control management
What’s in it for you:
- An opportunity to join a fast-growing company
- Options for career advancement
- Learning and development opportunities
- Flexible working environment
- Competitive salaries based on experience
