About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Jira Administrator and Migration Engineer to manage, scale, and optimize our enterprise Atlassian ecosystem. In this role, you will lead high-stakes Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud migrations, streamline automated workflows, and maintain performance, security, and compliance across systems serving thousands of users.
Key Responsibilities
- Jira & Atlassian Systems Administration: Administer, configure, and optimize Jira Data Center, Jira Cloud, Jira Service Management, and Bitbucket environments. Manage project settings, custom workflows, issue types, screens, permission/notification schemes, dashboards, and Jira Automation rules.
- Cloud Migration Execution: Plan, build, and execute end-to-end migrations from Jira Data Center/Server to Jira Cloud using Atlassian migration tools (JCMA/CCMA). Create detailed migration runbooks, validation frameworks, and rollback plans while troubleshooting migration blockers.
- Integrations & Customization: Develop custom automations and integrations using ScriptRunner, Groovy, JavaScript, and REST APIs. Integrate Jira with critical enterprise tools including Bitbucket, GitLab, SCCM, and Okta.
- System Performance & Security: Monitor system health, optimize indexes, tune database performance, and lead patching/upgrades. Implement robust backup/disaster recovery protocols and ensure compliance with security best practices and SOX auditing standards.
- Documentation & Process Excellence: Maintain technical architecture diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), runbooks, and migration strategies to support business continuity.
Requirements & Skills
Must-Have:
- 5+ years of hands-on Jira Administration experience across both Data Center and Cloud environments.
- Proven track record leading enterprise Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud migration projects.
- Expert knowledge of workflow/scheme configurations, Jira Automation, user access management, and Okta integration.
- Experience with REST API integrations and foundational SQL (PostgreSQL)
Preferred:
- Advanced scripting skills using ScriptRunner, Groovy, JavaScript, or Python.
- Hands-on administration of Jira Service Management, Bitbucket, Linux environments, and AWS infrastructure.
- Deep experience managing multi-node Data Center deployments supporting 500 to 10,000+ users.
Qualifications & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Atlassian Certifications (e.g., Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator, Atlassian Cloud Administration, or Atlassian Cloud Migration Specialist) are highly preferred.
Key Competencies
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Clear cross-functional communication and documentation abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to own initiatives independently while collaborating closely with DevOps, PMO, and business teams.
