Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is expanding.
Selected team members will begin paid onboarding and training at our Marietta hospital in August 2026 before transitioning to our new Dunwoody location.

Your Impact as a Veterinary Oncology Technician
- Provide compassionate nursing care for oncology patients throughout treatment
- Monitor patient comfort, treatment response, and quality of life
- Support chemotherapy, recheck appointments, and ongoing treatment plans
- Administer medications, fluids, and other prescribed therapies
- Maintain accurate treatment and medical records
- Prepare and administer chemotherapy according to established protocols and safety standards
- Follow OSHA and NIOSH hazardous drug handling guidelines
- Use appropriate PPE and safe handling procedures
- Maintain accurate chemotherapy and medication documentation
- Support the safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous medications
- Perform venipuncture and blood collection
- Process laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic testing
- Support fine needle aspirates, biopsies, staging, and other oncology procedures
- Prepare patients for diagnostic imaging and specialty treatments
- Assist with patient monitoring and procedural support
- Educate clients about treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
- Provide compassionate support during difficult and emotionally sensitive conversations
- Reinforce home-care and quality-of-life recommendations
- Collaborate with Medical Oncology, Internal Medicine, Emergency, ICU, and other specialty teams
- Maintain organized treatment areas and support efficient patient flow
Who We're Looking For
- Strong foundation in veterinary nursing and patient care
- Experience with venipuncture, blood collection, and laboratory diagnostics
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, veterinarians, specialists, and team members
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced specialty environment
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
- Previous Veterinary Oncology or Specialty Medicine experience
- Chemotherapy administration experience
- Familiarity with OSHA and NIOSH hazardous drug safety practices
- RECOVER CPR Certification
- Strong client education and communication skills
Team members should be comfortable:
- Standing and walking throughout a 10-hour shift
- Bending, lifting, kneeling, reaching, and performing patient restraint
- Safely lifting up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance
- Working around animals of varying sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical conditions
- Working around chemotherapy agents, hazardous medications, medical chemicals, cleaning products, disinfectants, animal dander, blood, and bodily fluids
- Working effectively in a fast-paced specialty veterinary hospital
