Job Summary/Basic Function

The Norman M. Eberly Multilingual Writing Center seeks a Post Baccalaureate Fellow for the 26-27 academic year to support new and ongoing functions in the Center.

Position Summary

The Post-Baccalaureate Fellow in the Norman M. Eberly Multilingual Writing Center will support the Director in the mission of the MWC. The Fellow will provide support for the PACT program, will conduct research on current best practices in the field to help guide and develop tutor training protocols, and will be responsible for managing and supervising the new MWC tutor led undergraduate journal in writing. With supervision from the Director, the Fellow will also coordinate new tutoring initiatives in the community including a satellite tutoring program at the Army War College. As well as gaining practical experience in the field of Writing Center administration, the Fellow will also have the opportunity to plan, develop, and publish their own research on the Dickinson MWC with the support of the Director.

Essential Functions

Administrative duties:

  • Conduct intake meetings for Dickinson students requesting PACT support and connect students with tutors in the MWC
  • Coordinate interviews in the fall semester for first-year students applying to work as MWC tutors
  • Assist Department Coordinator in correcting time sheets on Workday.

Professional Development duties:

  • Assist the Director in developing new and on-going tutor training initiatives (including staff meetings, Badge trainings, and new mentorship program) based on current best practices in the field
  • Meet bi-weekly with Student Assistant Coordinators to help coordinate MWC social media/outreach campaigns
  • Oversee editorial decisions of the MWC undergraduate writing journal
  • Coordinate with the Army War College to provide writing tutoring for the International Fellows on site and with the CCLA to begin community-based outreach.

Research duties:

  • Plan and develop one peer-reviewed article for WLN, WCJ, Praxis, or equivalent field specific journal over the course of the academic year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Minimum Work Experience

  • Less than 12 months

  • Work is closely monitored by supervisor/manager; detailed instructions and procedures are generally provided.
