Description

Procurement Master Data Steward

(Junior role | Mumbai)

Are you interested in data, systems and delivering reliable service to colleagues across a global organisation? Would you like to build your expertise in procurement operations while learning from an experienced international team? If so, this role could be a great next step in your career.

As a Procurement Master Data Steward in our Procurement Business Support team, you will help maintain accurate and reliable procurement data across our systems. You will gain exposure to international stakeholders, receive strong on-the-job support and contribute to work that enables our business across regions.

About Svitzer

Svitzer is a leading global towage operator with more than 4,000 colleagues and a fleet of over 500 tugboats across 35+ countries, organised into four regions: Australia, AMEA, Europe and the Americas. We provide sustainable marine services that make ports and terminals safer, more efficient and more climate-friendly. Our strategic priorities are reflected in our innovation efforts, including the Svitzer Transverse Tug: youtube.com/watch?v=IPdhKsJu3fk&themeRefresh=1 (1 min 55 sec video).

You will join an ambitious international organisation with a collaborative and relatively flat structure, where ideas and initiative are valued. We aim to create an inclusive and supportive workplace in which colleagues with different backgrounds and perspectives can contribute, learn and grow.

More about the job

Based in Mumbai, you will join a close-knit team of four and report to the Procurement BPO, who is based in Copenhagen. The team supports our Global Procurement organisation and works closely with regional and local teams as well as our Shared Service Centre in Poland.

In this role, you will carry out procurement master data processes and help ensure that data governance requirements are implemented and maintained. Working with senior colleagues and regional stakeholders, you will contribute to the integrity, quality and timely maintenance of procurement master data.

The position combines operational delivery, stakeholder support and continuous improvement. As the Mumbai team supports colleagues across Europe, AMEA, Australia and the Americas, some flexibility in working hours will be required. We value in-person collaboration and expect colleagues to work from the office most of the time, while offering flexibility to work from home when needed.

Responsibilities, more specifically:

  • Run day-to-day master data activities, ensuring data definitions and attributes are unique, comprehensive, fit for purpose and up to date.
  • Collect, review and enrich reporting data related to PTP processes and procurement controls.
  • Continuously improve Global Procurement Master Data processes and related systems to support efficient and accurate ways of working.
  • Work closely with procurement system owners to establish data quality KPIs and metrics, ensure data quality standards are met and remediate identified issues.
  • Resolve day-to-day local master data queries and requests.
  • Perform active and continuous data monitoring to address potential issues, communicate solutions to internal stakeholders and escalate matters to the relevant departments when needed.
  • Provide, review and enrich master data load templates in collaboration with category managers and regional procurement managers.
  • Support procurement system owners in creating an effective data strategy, execution plan and appropriate measurements.
  • Review and update training documentation for Procurement Master Data processes to support the handover of key tasks and the training of new colleagues.
  • Review master-data-related business processes and workflows, ensuring they meet business needs.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Team to manage risks and compliance requirements connected with master data management.

Who we are looking for

You work in a structured and efficient way, take ownership of tasks and care about delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes. You are comfortable collaborating in a dynamic international environment and communicate clearly with stakeholders throughout the process.

You do not need to know everything from day one. We value curiosity, attention to detail and a willingness to learn and improve. If your experience does not match every point below but you believe you can contribute to the role, we encourage you to apply.

More specifically, we are looking for a colleague with:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English – this is a must.
  • 2–5 years of experience, preferably from a similar role.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • A background in master data management is preferred.
  • The ability to map processes and present outcomes clearly.
  • Experience in process-oriented roles, ideally within procurement operations or a shared services environment.
  • Experience working with procurement systems and maintaining data with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • An organised, process-driven and service-minded approach.
