POSITION: Technician Mark-Out Inspection
NUMBER OF OPEN POSITIONS: 1
LOCATION: SCG - CT - Orange - 60 Marsh Hill Rd
HOURLY RATES: $44.27 - $48.11
PURPOSE:
This position contributes to the achievement of company objectives in providing quality mark outs/locates of gas main and service facilities within the distribution system. Coordinates and maintains a dialogue with contractors, government agencies, utility associates, and public works and highway departments to assure the protection of underground gas distribution facilities. Serve as a first responder to damage incidents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responds to Call Before You Dig location requests to perform quality mark-outs of gas main and service facilities.
Reviews available maps and records to ensure accuracy of information for mark-outs.
Performs field visits to construction sites to ensure the protection of gas distribution facilities.
Reports damage incidents and performs “make-safe.”
Reports hazardous conditions to contractor representatives and to the immediate supervisor.
Serves as a first responder to damage incidents.
Documents the facts associated with damage incidents and inspection issues.
Operates a personal computer (PC) or laptop, to obtain information regarding excavation locations, etc.
Operates various electronic devices designed to assist in locating subsurface gas utilities.
Serve as an “on-call” inspector.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have 1-3 years of experience in marking out underground facilities.
Must have High School Diploma / GED.
Knowledge of practices and procedures for operating department inspectors.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must have good organizational and planning skills.
Must be able to read construction maps and drawings.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
May require various DOT Operator Qualifications.
Must be available for response during and after for emergencies and critical assignments.
