Description

Join an Award-Winning AAHA-Accredited Veterinary Hospital in the Heart of South Tampa

If you're an experienced veterinary technician who wants to be more than a pair of hands — someone who enjoys advanced patient care, surgery and anesthesia, mentoring teammates, and helping a hospital continue to thrive — we would love to meet you.

Why Bayshore?

At Bayshore, your experience matters.

You'll join a team that values clinical expertise, collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth while giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both patient care and the people around you.

  •  Help mentor and develop veterinary technicians and assistants
  •  Contribute ideas that improve patient care and hospital workflow
  •  Build meaningful relationships with clients and their pets
  •  Continue developing your technical skills through continuing education and mentorship
  •  Grow your career within an established hospital with the resources to support your long-term development

A Hospital Where Your Skills Are Put to Work

As a Certified Veterinary Technician, you'll play an important role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the veterinary team.

Your responsibilities may include:

Patient Care and Veterinary Nursing
  •  Provide hands-on care during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  •  Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  •  Complete and assist with in-house laboratory diagnostics
  •  Monitor hospitalized patients and provide compassionate nursing care
  •  Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  •  Support veterinarians in developing and carrying out treatment plans
Surgery, Dentistry and Anesthesia
  •  Assist with surgical and dental procedures
  •  Provide anesthesia monitoring and perioperative patient care
  •  Support patient preparation, recovery, and discharge
  •  Utilize appropriate monitoring equipment and protocols to promote patient safety
Team Development and Mentorship
  •  Help train and mentor veterinary assistants and technicians
  •  Share clinical knowledge and technical best practices
  •  Serve as a resource for teammates developing their skills
  •  Help create a positive, collaborative learning environment
  •  Support onboarding and continued development of new team members
Client Communication
  •  Educate pet owners regarding medications, treatments, and home care
  •  Assist with discharge instructions and follow-up recommendations
  •  Build trust with clients through compassionate, knowledgeable communication
  •  Help create a positive client experience from admission through discharge
Hospital Workflow
  •  Collaborate with veterinarians and support staff to maintain efficient patient flow
  •  Identify opportunities to improve workflow and patient care
  •  Help uphold hospital protocols and medical standards
  •  Step in where needed to support the team during busy periods

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) who is confident in their clinical skills, passionate about patient care, and excited to contribute to the continued success of our team.
  • Current Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential
  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
  •  Strong foundation in general practice veterinary medicine
  •  Hands-on experience supporting surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and patient care
  •  Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing practices and patient safety
  •  Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills
  •  Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  •  Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in a fast-paced veterinary environment
  •  Commitment to high-quality medicine, Fear Free handling, and compassionate patient care
  •  Willingness to participate in continued learning, mentorship, and professional development
  •  Experience mentoring, training, or onboarding veterinary technicians and assistants
  •  Advanced anesthesia monitoring experience
  •  Strong surgical and dental technical skills
  •  Experience working in an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital
  •  Interest in taking on additional responsibility within the technician team
  •  A desire to grow as a clinical leader and resource for fellow team members
Physical and Working Environment Requirements

Working in veterinary medicine is hands-on, physical, and unpredictable. Team members should be comfortable performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
  •  Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the workday
  •  Frequently bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and working at floor level
  •  Safely lifting, carrying, and restraining animals, including dogs and cats of varying sizes and weights
  •  Assisting with patient transfers, positioning, and movement throughout the hospital
  •  Performing repetitive tasks such as cleaning, stocking, preparing treatment areas, and maintaining equipment
  •  Working around animal dander, fur, saliva, urine, feces, blood, and other bodily fluids
  •  Working with and around cleaning and disinfecting products, medical supplies, and veterinary medications
  •  Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following hospital safety and infection-control protocols
  •  Maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients, clients, and team members

Your Growth Matters Here

We believe great veterinary technicians should have opportunities to keep learning and build a career, not simply work another shift.

At Bayshore, you'll have access to resources designed to support your continued development, including:
  • Continuing education and professional development
  •  Support for expanding your technical skill set
  • Mentorship and technician development opportunities
  •  Opportunities to grow into greater clinical or leadership responsibilities
  •  Access to career development opportunities throughout a growing veterinary network
  •  Comprehensive benefits for eligible full-time team members
  • Employee pet care discounts
  •  Paid time off and paid holidays
  •  Retirement savings with employer match
  •  Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  •  Life and disability insurance
  •  Employee Assistance Program and wellness resources
Be Part of What's Next at Bayshore

There's something special about joining a hospital that has already earned the trust of its community — and having the opportunity to help shape where it goes next.

At Bayshore Animal Clinic, you'll be surrounded by people who care deeply about their patients, their clients, and one another. You'll have the support to grow your skills, share your knowledge, and make an impact.

If you're a Certified Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Technician looking for a practice where your skills, voice, and professional growth truly matter, we want to hear from you.
