Description
As Business Manager, you act as a trusted sparring partner and sounding board to the CRO NL. You play a central role in translating the CRO NL strategy into execution, enabling the effective functioning of the Management Team, and ensuring that strategic priorities are delivered in a structured, consistent, and forward‑looking way. You coordinate complex, cross‑domain topics, support financial and portfolio oversight, and enable decision‑making at senior level. The role requires an experienced, hands‑on, proactive business manager who is comfortable operating in a highly dynamic environment, managing both strategic initiatives and ad‑hoc topics with impact across the CRO landscape.
The Team
The Business Manager is part of the Chief Risk Officer NL function. The CRO function is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing all major risks that could affect the bank's financial strength, reputation, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, ING Netherlands, this role is part of the CRO MT and works in close collaboration with the (NL) Heads of Credit Risk, NFR, Market Risk, Integrated Risk and Transaction Approval & Advice.
Roles and responsibilities
Act as sparring partner and sounding board to the CRO NL.
Coordinate and track the execution of CRO strategic priorities, ensuring alignment across domains and locations.
Prepare high‑quality communications and presentations for senior stakeholders, including Managing Board, Supervisory Board, NFRCs, and other internal and external forums.
Prepare and facilitate Management Team meetings, off‑sites, and employee gatherings, in close collaboration with the Personal Assistant.
Coordinate and support the execution of department communications activities
Drive continuous improvement of processes, governance, and ways of working, in line with the CRO NL ambition.
Partner with Finance and domain leadership to coordinate budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and portfolio performance management across CRO NL
Support and drive change initiatives aimed at increasing effectiveness, efficiency, and data‑driven decision‑making within CRO NL.
Partner with leadership and key stakeholders to foster employee engagement and promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Act as a central point of coordination for cross‑functional and ad‑hoc topics, assessing impact and ensuring timely follow‑up.
Maintain and further develop strong stakeholder relationships within and outside the CRO domain.

We are looking for specific knowledge and experience
Proven experience in a business manager role within a complex organisational environment, operating close to senior management.
Strong understanding of Risk and its role in safeguarding a large, complex financial institution.
Demonstrated ability to operate at Management Team level
Strong organisational awareness and political acumen, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and build trusted relationships at all levels of the organisation.
Experience preparing and supporting senior governance forums, with the ability to synthesise complex topics into clear recommendations and decision materials.
Experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and portfolio oversight within a complex organisational environment.
Strong ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans, monitor progress, and drive execution across multiple stakeholders and domains
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
Hands‑on, proactive, and solution‑oriented mindset.
Strong change mindset, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
High degree of flexibility and availability to respond to ad‑hoc requests when required.
High degree of discretion and integrity, with experience handling sensitive and confidential information at executive level.
Availability for on‑site presence at the Amsterdam office 4 days per week is preferred.
