The University is now looking for a higher caliber Assistant Safety Manager to support occupational safety and health management in both Campus Management Office (CMO) and Campus Development Office (CDO).
Reporting to the Director of Campus Management, the appointee will be responsible for the following:
- Assisting the Directors of the CDO & CMO, Senior Manager (Safety and Risk Management) in CDO and Safety Manager in CDO to deliver services of both CMO and CDO effectively and in a safe manner.
- Developing and executing a wide range of safety and health policies and plans for the offices in accordance with the best practice and relevant government regulations.
- Advising, monitoring and reviewing the safety and health issues for all in-house or outsourcing operation in CMO and CDO.
- Developing and conducting site safety inspections, emergency preparedness plans, accident investigations, training programs and maintaining safety record; and
- Work closely with HKUST internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure a clear understanding among departments of their respective roles and responsibilities, and to align CMO/CDO’s role in safety and health with the University-wide development.
Applicants should have a relevant degree or equivalent, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance and construction safety or other related fields, with strong experience in site monitoring and hands-on experience working on the client side. The successful appointee is expected to be registered as Safety Officer, preferably as Safety Auditor under the Labour Department. Proficiency in English and Chinese (including Cantonese) is required. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
