Description
Three years of increasingly responsible experience in communication and dispatch or related field including supervisory/lead work experience, or one year of full time paid direct responsibility for dispatching at a commercial airport, government facility, military base, or similar-sized facility involving the safety and security of large numbers of the public or personnel are required. Must obtain an Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Communications Specialist certification as required by the TSA within eighteen months of the date of hire through AAAE. NIMS and ICS certifications for Front Line Supervision tier and any assigned working groups must be completed within six months of employment and complete additional or refresher training as required. Must have a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment that fosters non-discrimination. Must be computer proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and various internet search engines. Experience using computer aided dispatch, phones, CCTV, handheld radios, and access control systems. A valid State of Ohio Driver’s License is required. Must successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10-year fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Must obtain Ground Vehicle Operator Non-Movement Credentialing within the first 30 days of employment and maintain these credentials for the duration of their employment. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five 35 pounds. Safety and security of large numbers of the public or personnel are required. In-depth knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration and TSA regulatory requirements pertain to safety and security operations and certification requirements. Highly motivated, self-starter with exceptional research, analytical, critical thinking, and collaborative and communication skills. Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139 and 49 CFR Part 1542 and how it applies to this position. - ACE Airport Communications Specialist Certification.
- Assists with planning, organizing, training, directing and supervising the day-to-day operations and performance of Airport Security Operations Center (ASOC), Communications team, and Security Technology Systems.
- Prepares work schedules to ensure that sufficient shift employees are available for workload demands. Monitors and documents attendance of employees.
- Supervises the performance of the assigned staff develops and monitors employee goals, counsels and coaches, instructs and evaluates employees, initiates and enforces disciplinary actions, and informs leadership of performance or operational issues as they arise.
- Conducts inspections, compliance testing, evaluations and audits of operations, equipment, and programs to ensure conformance with required security regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Monitors daily operations with the access control/CCTV services to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, the airport security program, and initiatives by TSA.
- Assists in developing and implementing security communications programs and plans and ensures employees possess a working knowledge of security-related communication requirements. Assists in the development and updates to policies and procedures, and section budget.
- Collaborates with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and pertinent security officials on security incidents and violations, and during emergency response situations.
- Conducts communication-related briefings and training sessions for Airport Communications Specialists, leadership, and contractors.
- Coordinate information flow during emergency situations to appropriate personnel.
- Promotes and ensures compliance with occupational health and safety management policies, procedures, and programs to minimize employee accidents and to promote a safe work environment. Prepare accident and injury reports as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as required. Must be available 24/7 to TSA, Airport Emergency Plan emergencies, and weather-related codes affecting airport operations.
