Our challenge
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable cloud platforms that support application development and deployment. The ideal candidate will work closely with software engineering, DevOps, security, and operations teams to improve cloud infrastructure, developer productivity, automation, and platform reliability.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $95k - $100k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design and manage scalable cloud platforms across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Build and maintain secure, highly available, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure.
- Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code modules using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support automated testing and deployments.
- Develop self-service tools and platform capabilities that improve developer productivity.
- Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Establish cloud architecture standards, governance policies, and best practices.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability across cloud environments.
- Configure identity and access management, networking, encryption, and secrets management.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, scaling, and operational processes.
- Support platform upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives.
- Monitor cloud usage and optimize infrastructure performance and costs.
- Troubleshoot platform, networking, deployment, and application infrastructure issues.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement DevSecOps and compliance controls.
- Document platform architecture, processes, standards, and operational procedures.
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or site reliability engineering.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized application platforms.
- Proficiency with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and security controls.
- Experience with identity and access management, secrets management, and encryption.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or OpenTelemetry.
- Experience using Git and modern software development workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
