Automotive Service Worker / Cleaner

Amentum is seeking an Automotive Service Worker / Cleaner to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities:

• Greases, gases, oils and washes vehicles;
• Checks air pressure and condition of tires, and repairs flats;
• Replaces oil filters, spark plugs and distributors;
• Cleans carburetors and air cleaners;
• Checks water level and general condition of batteries;
• Checks electrical system and replaces all burned out bulbs and sealed beams;
• Keeps work area clean and orderly;
• Reports all equipment using excessive amounts of gas, oil or grease;
• Picks up and delivers automotive parts and supplies.
• Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

• High School degree or GED certificate.
• Good knowledge of minor automotive maintenance and repair methods; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; mechanical aptitude; dependability.
• Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
• Passport should be valid for at least one (1) year at the time of hire.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
• Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
• Valid country driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

• The employee constantly is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw and talk or hear.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.
• The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
