Job Description
 

Overview

The Senior Inspector performs difficult and complex inspections for the City's single family residences primarily evaluating the providing support for the toilet replacement program and other plumbing construction and repair.

Essential Functions

1 Performs all pre and post construction inspections as part of the New Throne For Your Home Multi Family Toilet Replacement Program; inspects minor Plumbing Repairs, provides for the replacement of high-volume water fixtures with more efficient water fixtures, and repairs fresh water leaks in order to conserve water.

2 Provides accurate and timely responses to technical and non-technical inquiries from staff and citizens regarding code compliance requirements to ensure consistent enforcement and promote positive public relations; ensures appropriate scheduling and completion of inspections throughout the City.

3 Interprets and enforces code regulations and policy guidelines to ensure effective code enforcement through the processing of plumbing inspections, quality control management, and resolution of customer service complaints;

4 Contacts and provides information to other departments, other sections within department, field inspectors, contractors, technical boards, code professional organizations, and other city and state agencies to coordinate activities, exchange information, and stay abreast of new developments; participates and leads in training and educational opportunities to ensure cohesion with programs and inspection procedures.

5 Performs difficult and complex inspections to resolve difficult problems in code interpretation; gives advice to Inspectors to ensure accurate interpretation of codes and completion of work pertaining to multi family, residential, and water conservation inspections.

6 Attends outreach events, speaking engagements for Fix A Leak and Water Conversation, and participates in training on company wide projects related to software pilot programs.

7 Determines and identifies opportunities for program improvements and communicate to program supervisors.

8 Performs any and all other trades work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of City construction codes.

2 Knowledge of state laws applicable to inspection.

3 Knowledge of plumbing trade including parts, inspection, and regulations

4 Ability to perform difficult and complex plumbing and other construction trades.

5 Ability to work with customers and provide clear and concise communication.

6 Ability to coordinate services, monitor outcomes, and support resolutions to violations.

7 Ability to read and accurately interpret construction plans, specifications and reference materials

8 Ability to analyze facts, recognize problems, and formulate and implement viable solutions.

9 Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.

10 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Five (5) years of field inspection experience ensuring compliance with municipal zoning, building, or historic preservation/conservation district codes. 

EQUIVALENCY: 

  • An associate degree (or higher) in Architecture, Historic Preservation, Construction Management, or Engineering plus three (3) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

LICENSE:

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.



Salary Range

 

$28.27 - $33.93
