Description

The Campus Store Lead Assistant provides operational support for the RCC Campus Store, including textbook and course material operations, inventory, ordering and receiving, departmental orders, billing, off-site retail locations, and daily Store activities.
When working as the lead employee on duty, the Lead Assistant serves in a shift-supervisory role under the authority of the Associate Director of College Services. The Lead Assistant may direct part-time staff, assign routine work, address routine employee and customer issues, and ensure established Store procedures are followed. Significant personnel, policy, or other management matters are referred to the Associate Director of College Services or, when appropriate, the Executive Director of College Services.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service in all interactions, model Radical Hospitality, and operate under College and RCC Campus Store policies and procedures.
  • Operate and accurately utilize the Store POS, textbook management, inventory, and other applicable systems, including established cash-handling, reconciliation, and daily deposit procedures.
  • Coordinate textbook and course-material operations, including faculty adoptions, semester setup, identifying missing adoptions, and placing initial textbook orders.
  • Monitor textbook and course-material inventory throughout the semester and coordinate reorders, approved returns, dead-stock and wholesale returns, and textbook buyback activities.
  • Prepare textbook inventory, shelf tags, and course materials for semester sales periods.
  • Receive textbooks, retail merchandise, course materials, food and beverage products, and other inventory into the appropriate inventory management system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order approved course-kit materials, supplies, food and beverage products, retail merchandise, and other frequently used products through appropriate vendors.
  • Research products, pricing, and vendors; coordinate receiving; resolve routine vendor discrepancies; and maintain appropriate inventory controls, counts, reconciliations, and approved write-offs.
  • Process departmental merchandise and SWAG requests using established College procedures, approved products, and standardized pricing, including vendor communication, approved ordering, tracking, receipt, and distribution.
  • Prepare invoices for departmental and other approved in-house charges; maintain documentation of outstanding invoices and payments; and coordinate follow-up or discrepancy resolution with the Business Office and other appropriate College personnel.
  • Monitor and maintain merchandise inventory at College off-site retail locations, including Archdale and Downtown, including restocking, product rotation, inventory levels, and presentation standards.
  • Assist with Store merchandising, displays, promotions, and other activities designed to support sales and customer service.
  • Train new Campus Store employees using established procedures and checklists and serve as a resource for part-time employees regarding customer service, inventory, POS, textbook, and routine operational questions.
  • Serve as the shift supervisor and lead employee on duty when assigned, under the authority of the Associate Director of College Services, providing day-to-day direction to part-time employees, assigning routine work, and providing task-level coaching.
  • Monitor adherence to established Store procedures, cash-handling requirements, customer-service expectations, and assigned responsibilities; address routine customer, employee, and operational issues; and refer significant personnel, policy, financial, or other management matters to the Associate Director.
  • Provide operational coverage when the Associate Director is unavailable and ensure opening, closing, cash-handling, and other required Store procedures are completed when serving as the lead employee on duty.
  • Assist the Associate Director with maintaining Store operations during high-volume periods, employee absences, semester transitions, Financial Aid sales, inventory periods, and other times of increased operational need.
  • Maintain organized Store files, purchasing documentation, returns records, inventory records, and other required operational documentation.
  • Maintain Store and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition; demonstrate initiative; use time effectively; and identify opportunities to improve Store operations and customer service.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, including those not readily foreseen or anticipated, as assigned by the Associate Director of College Services.
Required: 
  • High school diploma or GED. At least one year of related college level work (combination of education and substantial related work experience may be considered in lieu of college level work).
  • Experience related to the above duties; retail experience, 10-key adding machine skills, professional telephone skills.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and multiple tasks. Able to see beyond the tasks before him/her and understand how the tasks will affect the overall operation.
  • Self-starter, willing to perform any/all duties associated with Auxiliary Services. Individual must be adept at handling very detailed paperwork responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional customer service attitude required.
Preferred: 
  • Associate degree and substantial related work experience.
  • At least 12 months related experience.
  • Experience with inventory management, point-of-sale (POS) software, and Microsoft Office suite.
