Advanced Technology Summer Internship Job-AI Innovation Intern
This summer position is scheduled as part-time. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the intern will work alongside Advanced Technology staff to support and advance a set of artificial intelligence proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives currently in development. These projects explore how AI can improve administrative and academic operations at the school, and the intern will play an active role in building, testing, and documenting them. This position offers meaningful, applied experience across multiple AI project areas simultaneously and is ideal for a Computer Science student who is curious, collaborative, and eager to contribute to real-world technology initiatives in a higher education setting.
Proof-of-Concept Projects
The intern will contribute across the following active POC initiatives:
Agentic AI Workflow Architecture: Map, design, and document agentic AI workflows for use across the institution, ensuring all students and staff have access to test and engage with AI-assisted processes. Work includes creating reusable templates and clear documentation that supports broad adoption.
Document Review Bot: Assist in the development and testing of an AI bot designed to scan and summarize administrative documents prior to staff review. Evaluate outputs for accuracy and reliability and help refine the bot’s performance based on real use cases.
Course Evaluations AI Bot — Support the development of an AI bot that processes course evaluation data. Testing responsibilities include assessing accuracy and consistency of generated reports and validating the bot’s ability to surface relevant information quickly and reliably.
A Few Examples of Things You Might Do
- Prompt and test an AI bot using sample offer letters and document whether its summaries are accurate and complete.
- Build a workflow diagram that maps how an agentic AI system moves through a multi-step administrative task.
- Run a batch of course evaluation reports through an AI model and compare its outputs to manually generated summaries.
- Write internal documentation explaining how a new AI workflow works so that non-technical staff can use it independently.
Skills and Interests
The successful candidate is passionate about artificial intelligence and eager to work on projects that have a direct impact. They are comfortable with ambiguity, take initiative, and communicate clearly in both technical and non-technical settings. Prior experience with AI tools, APIs, or bot development is a plus, as is any background in process documentation or workflow design.
