What Manufacturing Planning contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Manufacturing Planning is responsible for the forecasting, planning and scheduling of manufacturing resources, including equipment and labor resources to efficiently achieve manufacturing goals as defined by internal and external customer expectations. Responsible for distribution of finished goods. Addresses conflicts and constraints in manufacturing to achieve highest level of customer satisfaction.
Job Summary
The Planner, Manufacturing is responsible for analyzing and responding to demand for products of a specific classification(s) of materials. This job evaluates demand planning forecasts, develops plans for review, and places monthly orders. The Planner, Manufacturing ensures timely and accurate delivery of products to warehouses and distribution centers for final transport to customers. This job requires frequent coordination with cross functional groups and teams to ensure effective planning and selection of products from international and domestic suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining master production schedules (MPS) based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, production capacity, and actual material availability.
- Monitor production schedule execution against the MPS, identify material shortages and constraints, and coordinate timely corrective actions with Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
- Lead cross-functional scheduling reviews and provide guidance, coaching, and development to planning team members to ensure priorities, accountability, and execution are aligned.
- Elaborate annual budget & quarterly forecast analysis by category & business unit identifying demand & VOP variation to present to top management for business decisions
- Active participation in new product introductions inventory management & supply chain leader on product end of life activities and material flow by cost center to minimize or eliminate material obsolescence (RM & Sub Assy)
- Follow up and establish practices that ensure the correct administration of the MPS/MRP/CAP parameters for planning, the appropriate use of the system and compliance follows practices and tasks that ensure the service metrics achievement.
- Manage the expected levels of finished goods inventory and sub-assemblies in the distribution center and plant by division, through analyzing data related to production, inventory, and sales to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Participate and interact in manufacturing & global supply planning meetings for monitoring compliance of schedule attainment & back-order recoveries
- Customer service through good effective and proactive communication with global supply planning & manufacturing stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficient execution.
- Comply with EHS, Quality and Productivity objectives.
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of experience, preferred
- Advanced English, required.
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Demonstrated experience in master production scheduling, material control, and manufacturing planning in a production environment, preferred
- Previous experience leading, coaching, or developing teams, preferred
