The SEM Lab in Tualatin is committed to providing best-in-class microscopy services to support Lam’s engineering and development efforts. Through technical development and continuous improvement, we solve difficult analysis problems and leverage efficiencies to increase our throughput and reduce our time to data.

## The impact you’ll make

Your major responsibility will be to process samples using FEI/Thermo Fisher Helios SEM tools. Sample types will consist of top-down imaging, and cross-sectional SEM imaging. Additional responsibilities include imaging AutoTEM prepped lamella using the installed STEM detector on the SEM Tool.

## What you’ll do

• Follow lab methodology for TDSEM/XSEM/STEM-Imaging.
• Perform sample preparation consistent with quality standards.
• Optimize personal workflow for efficient throughput of samples.
• Communicate with lab management to provide work completion time estimates.
• Provide feedback to lab management for continuous improvement opportunities in lab workflows.
• Communicate with team members to ensure alignment on methodologies.
• Protect customer material and IP at all times.

## Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in a physical science with 0-2 years experience; or 4-6 years of experience or professional training on materials science and analytical techniques.
• Experience operating single beam SEM tools, with particular focus on the preparation of cleaved cross-sections for XSEM imaging.
• Knowledge of the physics involved with SEM tools, such as vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, and ways to work around charging issues.
• Sample prep experience in precision cleaving tools is a plus.
• Ability to work a compressed 12-hour schedule. This role specifically is for Back-End Nights.
• Familiarity with key developments and materials in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience creating and presenting technical documentation.
• Experience in customer IP protection and sample handling is a plus.

## Preferred qualifications

• Associate degree, Technical Certificate, Diploma or higher in a technical field.
• Knowledge of Electron Microscopy Theory and at least some time on-tool experience during coursework, or in industry.
• Semiconductor experience is a plus.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
