Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Director, Portfolio Project Management & Process Excellence, located in Italy.

The Director, Portfolio Project Management & Process Excellence is a strategic leadership role within Global Distribution & Customer Logistics Excellence team ), responsible for overseeing a portfolio of complex, crossfunctional initiatives that enable supply continuity, operational excellence, and business growth. This role drives disciplined portfolio governance, prioritization, and execution across manufacturing, planning, logistics, and external partners. The position offers high visibility and impact, partnering closely with senior leaders to translate strategy into results while building strong project management capabilities across the organization. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and govern a portfolio of GDCL projects, ensuring alignment with business strategy, financial targets, and operational priorities. 

  • Establish and maintain portfolio management standards, cadence, and reporting, including prioritization, resource allocation, risk management, and performance metrics. 

  • Partner with crossfunctional leaders (Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Quality, R&D, and Commercial) to drive ontime, onbudget execution of strategic initiatives. 

  • Identify interdependencies, risks, and tradeoffs across initiatives and proactively recommend mitigation and optimization strategies. 

  • Provide executivelevel communication, including portfolio dashboards, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership. 

  • Lead, coach, and develop project managers and portfolio resources, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration. 

  • Drive adoption of project and portfolio management best practices, tools, and methodologies across GDCL 

  • Ensure projects comply with applicable quality, regulatory, and governance requirements within a regulated medical device environment. 

 

Qualifications 

Education 

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field. 

  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA or MS) in a related discipline. 

Experience and Skills 

Required: 

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in project, program, or portfolio management within supply chain, operations, manufacturing, or a related environment. 

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, crossfunctional portfolios with significant business impact. 

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, including influencing at the senior leadership level. 

  • Proven ability to establish governance, prioritize initiatives, and manage resources across competing demands. 

  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences). 

  • Strong analytical, financial, and problemsolving capabilities. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in global or multisite supply chain operations. 

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies. 

  • Advanced proficiency with project/portfolio management tools and enterprise systems. 

  • Prior peoplemanagement or matrix leadership experience. 

Other: 

  • Language: English (additional languages a plus). 

  • Travel: Up to 15–25%, primarily domestic, with occasional international travel. 

  • Certifications (Preferred): PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project/portfolio management certification.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€95,900.00 - €165,370.00

 

 

Benefits:

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
