Position Description
The IP NOC Technician is primarily responsible for supporting the Tier 3 technician who provides in depth technical support and analysis of our core and dcn/telemetry network, the surveillance and repair of a large multinational Ethernet and IP network consisting of routers and switches from a variety of vendors with Juniper being the most widely deployed technology. Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience working with Juniper or Cisco routing equipment and be knowledgeable on common Ethernet and IP protocols to include BGP, MPLS, and Spanning Tree. The IP NCC technician must also have demonstrated customer service experience and be an effective communicator able to interact with customers both verbally and in writing to troubleshoot and resolve service issues.
Principal Accountabilities:
Supporting the Packet Tier3 technician on detailed fault analysis and DCN network - Discovery, deployment and fix
Monitoring of internal and external networks across a multi-vendor environment
Carrying out initial triage diagnosis on faults and proactively escalating issues as required
Prioritising faults to meet SLAs, including resource management of external contractors
Providing regular updates to internal stakeholders and external customers on the progress of faults
Fault isolation and repair tasks on IP and ethernet circuits
Responsible for the management of fault receipt, fault identification & logging, support team dispatch and fault management to resolution
Ensuring service availability and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) targets are met.
Arranging and coordinating access for suppliers with support team members
Providing key metrics and reports as required to senior Operations stakeholders
Support & maintain the company objectives of ISO 9001/18001/27001 accreditation
Key Skills and Experience:
Professional level of English
2 - 4 years (minimum) proven NOC experience in the telecommunications industry with a proven record of accomplishment in an operational environment.
Experienced in DWDM, Fibre & Optical equipment desirable
