This announcement is for one (1) Limited Duration Early Resolution Docket Discovery Clerk and will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
This position is expected to last through the end of the current biennium (June 30, 2027). The position may be extended or converted to a permanent role, depending on future funding and organizational needs. If the position becomes permanent, the individual hired into the limited duration role will assume the permanent position.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill futur4e vacancies in various locations as they occur.
This is a hybrid position and will require the employee to be in office 3 - 4 days/week.

About the Oregon Public Defense Commission (OPDC)
The Oregon Public Defense Commission (OPDC) is an agency governed by a 13-member commission appointed by the Governor, which serves as the governing body for Oregon’s public defense system. The Commission provides policy direction and oversight for the administration of the system. The legal services provided by OPDC represent an essential component of Oregon’s public safety system.
OPDC negotiates contracts with trial-level public defense providers and administers and distributes funds for representation and related services for cases during the biennium for criminal, juvenile, and civil commitment cases. The Agency provides compliance and oversight to the trial community providers through quality assurance practices, training, and education. Financial Services processes all expenses related to representation in public defense cases. The Appellate Division provides direct legal representation in the state appellate courts in criminal cases, juvenile dependency and termination of parental rights cases, and parole cases. Other services in the Agency include Data Collection and Analysis, General Counsel, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Internal Audit, and Policy Development.
OPDC is dedicated to ensuring high-quality legal representation for individuals who are constitutionally entitled to counsel. OPDC works to strengthen Oregon's public defense system through direct representation, statewide coordination, oversight, policy development, and collaboration with justice system partners.
What You’ll Do
As the Early Resolution Docket (ERD) Discovery Clerk, you will act in an administrative capacity to assemble, organize, and preserve discovery and case materials in support of client and Early Resolution Unit and Trial Office needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis, OR
An associate degree in general office occupations and two (2) years of administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis, OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Exceptional Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a high level of accuracy when reviewing, organizing, indexing, redacting, and maintaining discovery materials, evidence logs, and case records.
Strong Organizational & Case Management Skills: Effectively manages large volumes of physical and electronic discovery, prioritizes competing deadlines, ad maintains well organized case files and documentation.
Technical Proficiency & Adaptability: Possesses experience using case management systems, databases, document management platforms, and software for handling, converting, and redacting digital evidence, including audio, video, and photographic files.
Knowledge of Confidentiality and Legal Compliance Requirements: Understands the importance of safeguarding sensitive information and applying applicable laws, policies, and victims’ rights requirements when processing and disclosing discovery materials.
Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrates the ability to identify missing evidence, recognize relevant or probative information within case materials, and exercise sound judgment when reviewing complex records.
Collaborative & Customer Service Oriented Approach: Builds and maintains effective working relationships with attorneys, paralegals, IT staff, clients, and other members of the defense team while providing responsive and professional support.
Initiative and Commitment to Continuous Improvement: Takes ownership of assigned work, develops and documents efficient processes, assists with cross-training efforts, and contributes to consistent office wide practices and procedures.
