JOB SUMMARY
This is a 4-week contract position that will assist the Anthropology Department in laboratory and field work associated with our burial recovery and repatriation projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform archaeological survey and excavation.
Inventory, catalog, and analyze archaeological material.
Assist with report production.
Assist with documentary and archival research.
Follows all Hamline University policies, procedures and protocols.
All other duties as requested.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the: Archaeology Supervisor
This position does not supervise other employees.
This position does not supervise student workers.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for the following budget: None
Budget Range: This position is not responsible for the management of a budget.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES
Experience with archaeological field and laboratory procedures and terminology.
Experience performing archaeological field work.
Ability to work with sensitive and confidential records and data.
Experience and sensitivity in working with Native American communities.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google, and Google Apps.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology or related field.
Archaeological Field School.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Familiarity with the archaeology of Minnesota.
Experience with artifact identification and analysis.
Experience completing site forms.
Experience with artifact illustration or photography.
Experience writing technical reports.
Experience with mapping and GIS hardware and software.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must be in good physical condition and have experience performing outdoor work under a variety of conditions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Ability to work an on-call schedule.
Ability to travel to on and off campus locations.
Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a part time, non-exempt, grant-funded position.
This position may require travel within the state and overnight stays near work sites.
