The Position:

Our client is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to support the monitoring, investigation, and continuous improvement of alert monitoring, threat detection, investigation, incident response, vulnerability management, and continuous security improvement initiatives.

This role is focused on day-to-day security operations, including threat detection, alert monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and security investigations. You will play an important role in protecting the organization's systems, networks, applications, and information assets while supporting the ongoing enhancement of its overall security posture.

You will bring strong analytical and investigative skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for cyber security. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external security partners, you will help identify, assess, and mitigate cyber security risks while supporting business objectives and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

Security Operations & Technology Management

• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts and events across enterprise systems and platforms.
• Analyze security events and logs to identify suspicious activity, threats, and indicators of compromise.
• Support the monitoring, configuration, and ongoing effectiveness of enterprise security tools and controls.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of security controls and recommend improvements to reduce organizational risk.
• Streamline alert management processes to improve operational efficiency and response times.
• Monitor network, endpoint, server, and infrastructure security controls to maintain visibility across the environment.
• Analyze server, network, and technology service requirements and recommend improvements aligned with security best practices.

Threat Detection, Incident Response & Risk Management

• Investigate security incidents and support incident response activities.
• Conduct threat hunting activities to identify and mitigate emerging risks and hidden threats.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation efforts.
• Assess information security risks affecting systems, applications, infrastructure, and services.
• Identify and document risk mitigation strategies to strengthen organizational security.
• Create, maintain, and enhance incident response procedures and security playbooks.
• Support security readiness activities, including the development, documentation, and testing of response procedures.
• Stay current on emerging threats, attack techniques, and industry trends to proactively defend the organization.

Security Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Develop, document, and maintain security procedures, standards, and operational practices.
• Recommend enhancements to cyber security controls, processes, and governance practices.
• Support security audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
• Promote awareness of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and cyber security best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen the organization's security posture.
• Provide regular updates regarding security initiatives, investigations, and remediation activities.

Collaboration & Support

• Collaborate with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, and external security partners.
• Participate in department, project, and organizational meetings.
• Provide security-related guidance and support to users and stakeholders.
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support a collaborative team environment focused on operational excellence and security awareness.

Infrastructure & Cloud Security

• Monitor and assess network, endpoint, server, and cloud security controls.
• Support Microsoft-based security technologies and enterprise security solutions.
• Evaluate infrastructure, application, and cloud environments for security risks and vulnerabilities.
• Recommend security improvements that align with organizational requirements and industry best practices.
• Assist with securing Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Windows Enterprise, and hybrid technology environments.

Mandatories

• Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience within Information Technology, Cyber Security, Security Operations, or a related technical environment.
• Strong analytical, investigative, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience monitoring, investigating, and responding to security alerts and incidents.
• Experience working with enterprise security controls and technologies.
• Knowledge of technical infrastructure, networks, applications, and operating systems.
• Understanding of cyber security operations, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
• Strong understanding of adversary tactics and techniques, including familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Assets

• Experience within financial services, banking, credit union, or highly regulated environments.
• Microsoft security certifications.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 Security and Microsoft Azure Security.
• Knowledge of CIS Controls, CIS Benchmarks, MITRE ATT&CK, ITIL, and COBIT frameworks.
• Experience with threat intelligence, security auditing, and compliance programs.
• Experience working within Windows Enterprise environments.
• Security+, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, GSEC, or other recognized cyber security certifications.
• Experience with incident response playbooks, vulnerability management programs, and threat hunting activities.
