Pastry Chef

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and creative Pastry Chef to join the culinary team onboard Silversea. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality pastries, desserts, cakes, and baked goods while maintaining the refined standards expected in a luxury cruise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and present a wide variety of pastries, desserts, cakes, tarts, and specialty baked goods.
• Maintain consistently high standards of taste, quality, presentation, and portion control.
• Develop creative and innovative pastry and dessert concepts.
• Work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team on menus and special events.
• Ensure all pastry production is completed efficiently and according to established schedules.
• Train, guide, and support junior pastry team members.
• Monitor pastry inventory and assist with ordering and stock control.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional pastry section.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and onboard safety procedures.
• Stay current with pastry trends, techniques, and presentation styles.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-volume, fine-dining or luxury environment.
• Culinary qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and flavour profiles.
• Proven ability to create innovative and visually appealing desserts.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Flexible to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous cruise ship experience is an advantage.
• Must be able to meet the required medical, background, and travel requirements for shipboard employment.
