Cafe Backup Associate

Description

The Cafe Backup Associate prepares quality beverages while creating a welcoming, Christ-centered environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors. This role supports the ministry’s mission through hospitality, excellence, and stewardship by providing backup staffing coverage as needed. 

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee, tea, espresso drinks to established standards.
• Provide warm, attentive service that reflects ministry values.
• Operate café equipment safely and maintain cleanliness of the workspace.
• Accurately process transactions and assist with opening/closing duties.
• Monitor basic inventory needs and communicate supply shortages.
• Support special events or developing rental event opportunities within the cafe.

Scheduling Expectations

• Work hours are offered on an as-needed basis to provide coverage for staff absences, travel coverage, or special events.
• There is no guarantee of minimum or regular weekly hours.
• Shifts may vary based on operational needs and ministry activities.
• Employees may accept or decline offered shifts based on availability.

Requirements

• Barista or food service experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and aligned with the ministry’s values.
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
