Description of Work

Make a Difference in North Carolina’s Mortgage Industry

Are you detail-oriented, customer-focused, and interested in financial services and regulatory compliance? Join the North Carolina Office of the Commissioner of Banks (NCCOB) as a Licensing Support Specialist and play an important role in protecting consumers and supporting a fair, responsible mortgage lending industry across North Carolina.
In this role, you’ll help mortgage professionals navigate the licensing process, ensure applications and renewals are processed accurately and on time, and assist with consumer complaints. You’ll apply state and federal laws, regulations, and established procedures while delivering responsive, professional service to licensees, consumers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

As a member of the Non-Depository Mortgage Licensing Department, you will:
• Support the licensing process: Review, process, and maintain mortgage license applications and renewals in accordance with the North Carolina SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act and established deadlines.
• Deliver excellent customer service: Respond to questions and provide timely, helpful information to current and prospective licensees, internal customers, and other stakeholders by phone and in writing.
• Apply laws and regulations: Interpret and apply relevant state and federal laws, the North Carolina Administrative Code, and agency policies and procedures to licensing activities.
• Assist consumers: Process consumer complaints efficiently and accurately in accordance with established procedures.
• Manage records and correspondence: Prepare and send professional customer correspondence, maintain accurate records, and upload required documentation.
• Maintain licensing systems: Keep information current and accurate in the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) and internal agency systems.
• Take initiative: Exercise independent judgment, resolve routine and complex issues within your responsibilities, and manage competing priorities with limited supervision.
• Collaborate and grow: Participate in training, contribute to special projects, assist other agency divisions as needed, and share knowledge with colleagues.
• Protect confidential information: Handle sensitive information responsibly and comply with applicable confidentiality requirements, laws, and agency policies.
