GDIT is hiring a Network Administrator Senior for the Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) program at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) on Oahu, Hawaii. You'll be one of the senior technical people on the site team that operates and maintains the base network, working side by side with our Air Force customer while the base goes through a major network modernization.
What your week looks like
Your day starts with the same health checks as the rest of the team: the daily O&M checklist, monitoring and alerts, and the incident queue. From there you take the problems the team has escalated, such as intermittent faults, routing and switching issues that span several devices, and outages with no obvious cause. You work each one to root cause, not just until the symptom clears, and you document what you found so the fix holds.
A large share of the team's change and compliance work runs through you. You'll write the method of procedure and rollback plan, take it through the formal change process, and lead the work during scheduled maintenance windows, some of which fall on nights and weekends. You'll apply STIGs, work down findings from vulnerability scans, and keep device configurations current and backed up. When something doesn't look right ahead of an inspection, you'll be the one who catches it.
On modernization work, you're the network voice in the room. You'll review designs and cutover plans, stage and configure new equipment, and make sure whatever gets installed can be supported once the installers leave. You'll coach the associate administrators through tickets and changes, and you'll take a turn in the team's on call rotation.
