Description
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate, Diploma or recognised technical qualification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation, Process Automation or a related discipline.
- Typically at least 8–10 years of relevant experience in instrument construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning within oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery or comparable process facilities.
- Proven supervisory experience in brownfield projects, plant changes, shutdowns or major turnarounds.
- Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, Fire & Gas devices, cabling, tubing, junction boxes, marshalling and control-system interfaces.
- Experience supervising contractors and coordinating work across Operations, Engineering, QA/QC, OEMs, vendors and multiple construction disciplines.
Technical Competencies
- Interpretation of P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, cause-and-effect charts, logic narratives, data sheets and vendor drawings.
- Instrument installation quality, tubing and fitting practices, cable glanding/termination, calibration, loop checking, valve stroke testing, functional testing and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of DCS, PLC, IPS/SIS, Fire & Gas, HMI and packaged control-system integration.
- PTW, isolation/LOTO, hazardous-area awareness, brownfield work controls, and safe commissioning practices.
- Workpack-based execution, progress monitoring, punch management, completion dossiers, red-line/as-built documentation and system handover.
- Use of standard Microsoft Office applications and project/site reporting tools; familiarity with maintenance or completion systems is advantageous.
