The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Electric Power Technical Support Representative to support Caterpillar Dealers and customers across the Electric Power portfolio, including diesel and gas generator sets, rental power solutions, hybrid systems, and complete power generation solutions.
This role is responsible for providing technical support, developing dealer product support capabilities, driving customer satisfaction, and supporting aftermarket growth across the assigned territory.
This position will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and guidance to dealers in resolving customer issues related to Caterpillar Electric Power products and systems.
- Partner with dealers to develop commercial solutions for customer support cases that fall outside standard warranty coverage.
- Develop dealer capabilities in servicing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of Electric Power products through collaboration with Caterpillar subject matter experts and Dealer Services Development (DSD) teams.
- Support dealer development initiatives focused on parts and service sales growth.
- Drive aftermarket performance through key metrics including Service touchpoints, Population accuracy, Customer onboarding and Electronic Daily Service Reporting (EDSR) completion
- Capture and communicate customer feedback to Caterpillar product, engineering, manufacturing, and aftersales teams to support continuous improvement.
- Participate in regional and global technical conferences, dealer meetings, training events, customer days, trade shows, and industry conferences.
- Build strong relationships with dealers and customers to support long-term business growth and service excellence.
- Promote the adoption of Caterpillar service programs, digital solutions, and preventative maintenance initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electric power generation, power systems, industrial equipment, heavy equipment, or a related technical support environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel and gas generator sets, power generation systems, and associated controls.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
- Experience working directly with customers, dealers, distributors, or service organisations.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across a geographically dispersed territory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technical reporting systems.

- A combination of technical expertise and commercial acumen.
- Proven success building and managing customer and dealer relationships.
- Experience developing dealer capabilities and driving service excellence.
- Exposure to aftermarket services, maintenance agreements, digital solutions, and parts operations.
- Experience working across multiple countries, cultures, and business environments.
Additional Information
- This position requires approximately 50% travel.
