Summary of Position

The Center for Microbiology and Immunology (CMI) at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty scientist or physician-scientist position at the Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor level.

The Center for Microbiology and Immunology (CMI) is a hub for cutting-edge research and developments at the intersection of microbiology, immunology, and human disease. Our mission is to decode the intricate interactions between host and microbes, shedding light on immune genetics and inflammatory diseases. We believe in the transformative power of basic science to drive advancements in personalized healthcare and novel therapies.

At CMI, we see medicine as a collective effort—because solving complex health challenges requires teamwork, innovation, and a relentless drive to push boundaries. Our faculty includes renowned scientists leading initiatives in microbiome research, systems biology, imaging, and immunoprofiling. Through these efforts, we support transformative discoveries, help researchers generate high-impact publications, and provide invaluable insights for clinical applications.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, host-pathogen interactions, microbial pathogenesis, innate and adaptive immunity, microbiome-immune interactions, inflammation, and the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying infectious and immune-mediated diseases.

Successful candidates will join a highly interactive research community at a major academic medical center in Philadelphia. LKSOM offers state-of-the-art research infrastructure, including advanced flow cytometry and cell sorting, single-cell multiomics, metabolomics and lipidomics, bioimaging, and laboratory animal resources, as well as facilities supporting infectious disease research. Faculty also have access to complementary research resources at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

The Center's location within Temple University's Health Sciences Campus, adjacent to Temple University Hospital, provides extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations with basic scientists, clinicians, and physician-scientists, facilitating discoveries that bridge fundamental mechanisms and human disease.
