What Will You Do?

Key Responsibility:

SAP FI/CO Workstream Leadership

  • Lead the SAP ECC FI/CO workstream for the integration of the acquired subsidiary.
  • Own the FI/CO project plan, deliverables, milestones, risks, dependencies, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as the primary functional point of contact for SAP FI/CO design decisions and implementation activities.
  • Partner closely with the DT lead to align FI/CO requirements with the overall SAP integration architecture, technical delivery, and system administration.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Controlling, and business process owners to ensure operational and reporting requirements are met.

Dual-Ledger Accounting and Multi-GAAP Reporting

  • Design and implement SAP ECC solutions to support parallel accounting and dual-ledger reporting under IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Assess existing financial processes and identify the configuration and process changes required to accommodate multiple accounting standards.
  • Define and validate ledger structures, accounting principles, posting approaches, and reporting requirements, as applicable to the existing SAP ECC landscape.
  • Ensure appropriate treatment of accounting adjustments, intercompany transactions, financial postings, and period-end activities.
  • Support reconciliation between IFRS and US GAAP financial results and ensure the integrity and traceability of financial data.
  • Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to validate accounting treatments and obtain sign-off on the proposed solution.

SAP ECC FI/CO Functional Design and Configuration

  • Lead functional assessments, requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, solution design, and configuration of SAP ECC FI/CO.
  • Provide deep functional expertise across relevant areas, including:
    • Financial Accounting (FI): General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, and Bank Accounting.
    • Controlling (CO): Cost Centres, Internal Orders, Profit Centres, and relevant management accounting processes.
    • Master data governance, chart of accounts alignment, posting controls, document processing, and financial close.
  • Assess the acquired subsidiary's existing SAP and finance processes and define the target-state solution.
  • Ensure consistent financial master data, accounting structures, and business processes across the integrated environment.

Data Migration and Reconciliation

  • Lead FI/CO data migration planning and execution for the acquired subsidiary.
  • Define and validate data mapping, transformation rules, cleansing requirements, and migration controls.
  • Oversee mock conversions, migration rehearsals, validation activities, and final production migration.
  • Reconcile migrated balances and transactions against source-system records and approved financial control totals.
  • Validate master data, opening balances, open items, fixed assets, and other relevant financial data.
  • Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions within agreed project timelines.

Testing, Cutover, and Go-Live

  • Develop and manage the FI/CO testing strategy, including functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Prepare test scenarios covering financial postings, ledger-specific accounting, reconciliations, period-end processing, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate defect management, prioritisation, resolution, retesting, and business acceptance.
  • Lead FI/CO cutover planning, readiness assessments, data validation, reconciliation sign-offs, and go-live activities.
  • Provide hands-on support during deployment and stabilisation to ensure business continuity and financial data integrity.
  • Lead post-go-live hypercare, resolving functional issues and supporting the transition to business-as-usual operations.

Governance, Controls, and Compliance

  • Ensure SAP FI/CO changes comply with SOX requirements, internal financial controls, and established change and release management procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of solution designs, configuration decisions, migration reconciliations, testing evidence, and approvals.
  • Support audit requirements by ensuring financial transactions and accounting adjustments are traceable and appropriately controlled.
  • Identify project risks and control gaps and implement mitigation measures in collaboration with Finance and DT stakeholders.

Who Do You Need to Be?

  • Minimum 10 years of SAP FI/CO functional consulting experience, with substantial hands-on experience in SAP ECC.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering SAP integrations arising from mergers, acquisitions, or subsidiary integrations.
  • Proven experience implementing or supporting parallel accounting, dual-ledger solutions, and multi-GAAP financial reporting environments, specifically IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Strong SAP ECC FI/CO configuration and functional design expertise.
  • Extensive understanding of financial master data, transaction processing, general ledger postings, period-end close, and financial reconciliation processes.
  • Proven experience managing financial data migration, including mapping, mock conversions, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead testing, cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities.
  • Experience working in controlled corporate environments with SOX compliance, audit requirements, and formal change and release management processes.
