MSIG USA continues to grow!

Company Overview:

MSIG USA is the US-based subsidiary of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings, Inc., one of the world’s top P&C carriers and a global Class 15 insurer, with A+ ratings and a reach that spans 40+ countries and regions. Leveraging our 350-year heritage, MSIG USA brings the financial strength, expertise, and global footprint to offer commercial insurance solutions that address your business’s unique risks.

The Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management serves as the quantitative risk partner across the business and leads the strategic development of MSIG USA’s quantitative enterprise risk management function. The role oversees model development, solvency assessments, stress testing, and risk analytics to support capital management, portfolio optimization, risk appetite implementation, and strategic decision-making. Working across Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Operations, and Investments, the position translates complex risk dynamics into actionable insights that strengthen balance sheet resilience, improve risk-adjusted returns, and inform growth strategy. The role also engages with executive leadership, the Board, regulators, and rating agencies and leads the continued build-out of the ERM team.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of economic capital models, aggregation analyses, and stress-testing capabilities across underwriting, reserving, catastrophe, market, credit, and operational risks.
  • Direct the design and execution of solvency assessments and quantify diversification benefits across lines of business and geographies to inform portfolio optimization.
  • Translate complex quantitative outputs into clear executive-level narratives, recommendations, and decision support.
  • Define and operationalize quantitative risk appetite, including limits related to volatility, capital drawdown, concentration, and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Embed risk appetite metrics into underwriting strategy, growth initiatives, reinsurance decisions, and enterprise risk governance.
  • Support the allocation of economic capital across products, segments, and business units and develop risk-adjusted performance metrics to evaluate profitability by line of business.
  • Partner with Finance and Underwriting on quantitative assessments and serve as a trusted advisor to senior business and executive leaders.
  • Provide analytical support for major strategic decisions, including product launches, geographic expansion, portfolio actions, and capacity deployment.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Investments, and other key functions.
  • Manage the enterprise risk components of ORSA, rating agency submissions, regulatory capital reporting, and related governance requirements.
  • Prepare and present risk analytics to rating agencies, regulators, executive leadership, the Board, and governance committees as required.
  • Lead risk initiatives arising from new regulatory requirements and ensure successful implementation and integration into business practices.
  • Oversee model governance, documentation, validation, controls, and monitoring in accordance with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in risk data infrastructure, analytical tools, automation, and programming-based modeling efficiency.
  • Lead the build-out and development of a high-performing ERM team, including oversight of resources supporting capital modeling.
  • Participate in Enterprise Risk Committee meetings, lead risk-related discussions, and communicate ERM strategy, risk positions, and emerging concerns to senior leadership.
  • Perform other duties and lead additional risk-related initiatives as assigned.
