Description

The Marketing Communications Manager, Europe (f/m/d) is the regional extension of the global Purification Technologies (PT) marketing communications team. This is a remote role that can be based anywhere in Europe. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Communications Manager, this role takes the annual global strategies developed for PT industries, and adapts them for European markets to drive qualified lead generation and pipeline growth. Working in close partnership with regional product marketing, commercial, and digital teams, the role localizes messaging, content, and campaign activation across a mix of traditional and digital channels so that European execution stays aligned to the global plan while reflecting local regulatory drivers, market maturity, buying behavior, and language requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Adapt and implement the annual marketing communications strategies set by the Senior Marketing Communications Manager for PT industries, into a European activation plan with clear lead generation targets. Execute the regional plan across existing and new communication channels along the customer journey, and flag European market insights that should shape the next global planning cycle.
  • Localize and extend the global marketing content strategy for European audiences, supporting target industry and thought leadership positioning that drives regional demand. Source regional proof points and customer stories, test material efficacy in market, and report results against agreed metrics. Bring new and emerging content ideas forward to the Senior Marketing Communications Manager where they can strengthen the wider plan. (Existing content types may include webinars, expert interviews, sell sheets, web content, interactive tools, videos, and partnering with the digital manager to determine best strategy for paid social media.)
  • Serve as the regional marketing communications expert and advisor for Europe, partnering with the global Product Management team and regional commercial team; add value to campaigns through data- and fact-driven channel and message recommendations suited to European buyers. Leverage global Product Management and campaign deliverables to identify the best channels and mediums to reach regional target audiences, and champion best practices for those channels.
  • Identify complex, customer-facing issues surfacing in European markets and advise regional leadership and the Senior Marketing Communications Manager; support customer communications and change management strategies in region, ensuring messaging stays consistent with the global position.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams within Ecolab, representing the European perspective and spotting opportunities to link communications efforts across programs or businesses so regional resources are used to optimize reach and impact.
  • Team with the Trade Show Manager to bring the European trade show calendar to life by drafting and adapting copy, selecting and sourcing visuals, recommending booth placement and layout, identifying relevant regional sponsorships, highlighting speaking engagements, and other relevant goal-driving opportunities associated with trade shows.
  • Proactively partner with global Product Management to identify Tier 1 and Tier 2 European shows. Attend shows to support the event while staying ahead of regional trends, competitive activity, and customer messaging, and share those insights back to the Senior Marketing Communications Manager.
  • Contribute to annual trade show planning discussions by assessing the relevancy and effectiveness of European shows; research regional industry events to identify additional opportunities and bring forward recommended options for inclusion in the global calendar. Engage in discussions with data- and fact-driven contributions.
  • Write, adapt, and quality check copy and content to support European marketing communications deliverables including digital ads, trade show booths, social media posts, and video scripts, ensuring local language versions stay true to the approved global message.
  • Collaborate with the Digital MarCom team to identify and leverage content placement opportunities that increase engagement and drive qualified leads for PT industries across European markets, including regional search, paid social, and email programs.
  • Research and pilot new marketing communications tactics to reach unique European target audiences, with a willingness to try new approaches with targeted goals and objectives for new channels or deliverables being leveraged and share proven tactics back to the wider team for reuse in other regions.
  • Ensure all Ecolab compliance requirements are fulfilled including branding, legal, regulatory, and compliance, along with European specific requirements such as data privacy and local market regulatory and language standards.
  • Track, measure, and report European campaign performance and lead generation results to the Senior Marketing Communications Manager on an agreed cadence, using the results to recommend adjustments to regional activation and to inform the next annual plan.
  • Coordinate day to day with regional agencies, translation partners, and coordinators supporting European deliverables, providing clear direction, timelines, and feedback to keep work on brand and on schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, leadership, stakeholders, and customers across time zones and cultures by being attentive, responsive, proactive, and sensitive to competing demands.
  • Support departmental and regional projects as required, including ribbon cuttings, photo shoots, video shoots, plant and customer site visits, and similar activities across European locations.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Skills: digital marketing, content creation, product launches, analytics, measurement & optimization, demand generation, lead nurture, customer communications, change management, project and budget management, marketing communication planning and execution.
