Neighbourhood Services Operative

We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Neighbourhood Services Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.88 - £16.64 per hour

Summary:

As the Neighbourhood Services Operative of Southern Housing, this physically active role maintains clean and safe estate neighborhoods. You will drive company vehicles across regional sites to carry out bulk refuse collection, general waste clearance, and void property clearances while delivering friendly, resident-focused customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Drive to scheduled housing estates to collect non-domestic refuse and clear assigned void properties in a neat, environmentally friendly manner.
• Clean up spillages immediately on site and assist with duties like jet washing bin stores to keep communal areas well-maintained.
• Log all collected waste and location details accurately to support transparent recharging processes.
• Identify refuse hotspot areas and collaborate with the team on strategies to reduce waste buildup.
• Engage proactively with residents, managing expectations, providing basic advice, and acting as a positive representative for the landlord.
• Inspect communal areas to report repairs or defects to maintenance, tracking and escalating issues to line management when repairs miss deadlines.

Essentials:

• Valid UK Driving Licence with Category C1 entitlement and compliance with road transport activities.
• Practical experience in bulk waste collection, general refuse management, and void property clearances.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and professionally with residents, external agencies, and colleagues.
• Capability to undertake physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Basic numerical capability to manage stock control, inspect invoices, and track supplies or equipment.
