**The eligibility list created from this recruitment will be active for six months.**

***This position is 40 hours per week/ 9.5 months per year, benefits eligible at Twin Peaks Middle School.*** 

BASIC FUNCTION:
 
Under the direction of the site administrator and the Executive Director of Alternative Programs, plan and coordinate the operations and supervision of a Middle School After School Education and Safety program; meet guidelines in programming and attendance; supervise, train and evaluate assigned site personnel; provide a safe and healthful environment for students in the program.
 
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
 
The Middle School After School Education and Safety Program Supervisor supervises and directs the operations of a middle school after school education and safety program. The Extended Student Services Supervisor supervises and directs the operations of an elementary Extended Student Services (ESS) program.
Plan and coordinate the operation of the before and after school Middle School ASES program designed to meet the needs of middle school-aged children. E
 
Develop and implement a 4-6 week schedule of activities throughout the year appropriate to program and grant goals that also reflect student interests. E
 
Collaborate with site administration and regular school day staff to align the ASES program with the school day; participate in school and district meetings. E
 
Supervise, train and evaluate assigned personnel; develop employee work schedules and assign work; maintain proper staff to student ratio. E
 
Maintain site budget; purchase supplies, equipment, and daily student snacks.   E
 
Maintain student safety; monitor medical conditions; administer first aid as needed; prepare a safety and emergency preparedness plan and hold drills with students and staff. E
 
Conduct staff meetings; support district trainings for professional growth; utilize trainings offered by sponsoring agencies in the county. E
 
Prepare a disaster plan for the ASES program including on and off site emergencies; administer first aid; verify medication authorization and administer accordingly; monitor medical conditions. E
 
Communicate with parents and community agencies regarding various aspects of ASES programs; prepare monthly newsletters, summer brochures and conduct orientation meetings; schedule field trips and guest speakers. E
 
Conduct a mid-year and year-end program self-review to assure and maintain program quality. E
 
Utilize a variety of computer software, including PUSD software specific to the position; file documents to meet Federal Program Monitoring requirements. E
 
Establish and maintain files and records related to the program including attendance, students and staff. E
 
Perform related duties as assigned.

NOTE: At the end of some of the duty statements, there is an "E" which identifies essential duties required of the classification.
Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field and two years of paid experience working with secondary aged children, preferably as a Lead or Supervisor in an after school program.

Valid California driver's license.

Valid certifications provided by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or District approved provider for First Aid, Adult/Child CPR and AED. Online certifications will be accepted from these vendors as long as a hands-on skills assessment is completed. Recertification to maintain current/valid status is a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time greeting parents or supervising student
activities.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to store supplies.
Kneeling, crouching or bending at the waist to assist students.
Seeing to read and monitor student behavior.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.

HAZARDS:
Incumbents may have contact with blood or other body fluids from ill or injured children.
Working around and with machinery with moving parts.


In accordance with Personnel Commission Rules and Regulations of Classified Service # 70.200.1, new employees to Poway Unified School District will be placed at Step 1 (Minimum Salary) of the official salary range designated for the position. Any variances in initial placement are addressed in, and shall be carried out in agreement with, this rule.
