CEI Senior Inspector- Transportation
Department: Transportation

Compensation: $28.00 - $42.00 / hour
Description
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex technical assignments involving field surveying and construction layout, marking, checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
- Perform daily field inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Monitor construction activities for conformance with quality, performance, specification, and/or code requirements.
- Coordinate, manage, and mentor lower-level inspectors.
- Provide and coordinate on-the-job training for new employees.
- Work under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer/Project Engineer, using experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
- Establish and manage deadlines for assigned project responsibilities.
- Maintain safe work areas.
- Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Track quality assurance progress.
- Provide documentation and input for area and equipment turnovers.
What you'll need
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 8 or more years of related CE&I experience, or a Civil Engineering degree plus 2 years of related experience, including work on ALDOT projects.
- Strong written communication and comprehension skills.
- Ability to work responsibly and independently.
- Physical endurance to work in various outdoor environments, including extreme heat and cold, with the ability to occasionally lift items or objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at outdoor worksites, including roadways and construction sites, with exposure to traffic, construction zones, heavy equipment, and inclement weather.
- Ability to accommodate daily travel and/or overnight stays depending on project needs.
- Valid driver's license and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to successfully complete a drug screening and background check.
- ACI and ALDOT Certified Concrete Technician
- ALDOT Certified Asphalt Roadway Technician
- ALDOT or APNGA Radiological Safety Course Certification
- Working knowledge of CAMMS
- ALDOT Certified Asphalt Technician Level I – Field Tester
- ALDOT Certified Level II – Quality Management Technician
- ADEM Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI)
- ALDOT Work Zone Safety Certification
- ALDOT Unbound Earthwork Course Certification
- ALDOT or APNGA Radiological Safety Course Certification
- ALDOT Plan Reading Course
- OSHA Trench Safety, Electrical Hazards from Overhead and Underground Utilities
