JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities:
Primary Functions:
- Perform ongoing outreach education for new and existing clinicians on Hospital Medicine coding and documentation requirements using a variety of formats, including onsite, classroom, telephonic, electronic and web-based applications.
- To counsel clinicians identified as outliers via face-to-face interaction, phone, web-based, and/or email, on a minimum of a monthly basis or as coordinated by Director of Documentation Assurance
- Educate and give feedback to all new clinicians on documentation performance within the first month of service.
- To advise and educate internal Operations teams on documentation/coding by phone, webinar, in person or by participating in Monthly Facility Team Meeting group sessions.
- Monthly Facility Report Card analysis and trending to identify documentation and RVU outliers at the facility or clinician level.
- Action Plan development and outreach prioritization.
- Individual clinician and/or facility documentation feedback and education.
- Medical Director and Operations Leadership report distribution and support.
- Outlier clinician /facility escalation using established policies and processes.
- Participate in standing clinician meetings to highlight documentation, coding, and quality initiatives
- Educate and counsel clinicians on how to resolve external and internal chart queries
- Bi-weekly Clinician Onboarding WebEx presentations.
- Documentation of all outreach activity in SalesForce application.
- Participate in clinician Electronic Medical Record (EMR) training and provide feedback/clarification on documentation and coding workflow concepts.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives related to clinical documentation as identified by Clinical Leadership.
- Travel to territories as required to provide in person documentation education, oversight, feedback, and training
- Collaborate with Data and Performance Analytics Team on clinician feedback
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Secondary Functions:
- To function as a training resource during EMR upgrades via onsite or web-based
- To advise Coders on EMR function and documentation scenarios
- To provide information and feedback in meetings with internal Operations teams
- To conduct Bi-monthly reviews and analysis for the following:
- Acuity and RVU decreases
- Clinical Data Feeds
- EMR Transitions
- New Facility Starts
- Unbillable Visits
- To collect NP/PA, Resident, and Scribe Attestation Examples as needed for new facilities and EMR transitions
- To present onsite or web-based MIPS/MACRA documentation training to clinicians as needed
- To provide support on any ad hoc departmental projects
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge as it relates to, but not limited to, Electronic Health Record, health information systems and healthcare applications and their effects on Coding practices today and in the future
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPS, and APC coding guidelines
- Extensive knowledge of hospital and professional coding including ProFee Services beneficial
- Knowledge of medical terminology, classifications systems, and vocabularies
- Knowledge of privacy and security regulations, confidentiality, laws, access, and release of information practices.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for working with all different levels of professionals, including physicians, external and other internal partners
- Strong analytical skills, data presentation, technical capabilities, and metric management
- Must be able to execute on analysis and recommend outcomes based on interpretation of data

Pay Range:
50,751.00 - 72,120.00 USD annuallyThis range represents the anticipated base salary for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
