We design and build backup power packages, including tanks and enclosures, for healthcare, industrial, and technology-driven customers that require uninterrupted power at all times. Job Summary
The Aluminum Welder is responsible for welding, fitting, cutting, fabricating, and assembling aluminum components and enclosure structures using MIG welding and related fabrication techniques. This position ensures welds meet quality standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements while supporting production schedules and operational goals.
The ideal candidate will possess strong welding skills, the ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings, and experience working with aluminum materials, fabrication tools, and welding equipment. Successful candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, quality workmanship, and a commitment to safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Functions
Welding & Fabrication
Perform MIG welding of aluminum components and assemblies.
Set up, lay out, fit up, and tack weld precision frame weldments and brackets.
Assemble and tack components prior to final welding.
Square and weld various component configurations while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
Perform welding in both vertical and horizontal positions.
Fabricate and repair aluminum components using cutting, fitting, and welding techniques.
Monitor welding operations to minimize distortion, warping, shrinkage, and other quality defects.
Build assemblies to specified tolerances and quality standards.
Blueprint Interpretation & Measurement
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
Verify dimensions and fitment using tape measures and measuring devices.
Understand fabrication layouts and assembly requirements.
Follow written and verbal instructions related to welding and production activities.
Maintain accuracy throughout fabrication and assembly processes.
Equipment & Tool Operation
Operate welders, grinders, band saws, clamps, fixtures, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
Utilize hand tools associated with welding and fabrication operations.
Support movement of materials and assemblies throughout the facility.
Operate forklifts and material handling equipment as authorized.
Maintain tools, welding equipment, and workstations in proper working condition.
Assist with staging and movement of materials as required.
Quality & Safety
Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with engineering and quality requirements.
Meet established production goals while maintaining quality workmanship.
Follow company welding standards and fabrication procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Wear required PPE and comply with all company safety policies.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and productivity.
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to successfully complete a welding test.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
Basic mathematical and measurement skills.
Experience using hand tools associated with welding and fabrication.
Commitment to safe work practices and proper PPE usage.
Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
Highly Preferred
MIG aluminum welding experience.
Experience fabricating aluminum enclosures, frames, housings, or structural components.
Manufacturing or fabrication experience.
Forklift operating experience.
Experience reading fabrication prints and weld specifications.
Experience supporting startup operations or rapidly growing manufacturing facilities.
Preferred
Technical school, trade school, welding certification, or related training.
Experience with precision frame weldments and tight-tolerance fabrication.
Knowledge of fabrication processes, fit-up techniques, and quality inspection procedures.
Experience with material handling equipment and warehouse operations.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing warehouse environment with exposure to loud noise, temperature fluctuations, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and production byproducts within OSHA-permissible limits.
Work areas may include concrete surfaces, ramps, inclines, metal platforms, and uneven ground with regular movement around welding equipment, fabrication machinery, forklifts, material handling equipment, and production lines. Some tasks may be performed outdoors or between buildings depending on operational needs.
Required PPE must be worn at all times, and all company safety procedures and training requirements must be followed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods on concrete, metal, wood, and fabrication surfaces.
Ability to navigate inclines, ramps, stairs, uneven ground, and production walkways.
Ability to reach, bend, crouch, stoop, climb, and maintain balance while performing welding and fabrication tasks.
Ability to use hands and arms for handling tools, operating equipment, repetitive motions, and maintaining manual dexterity.
Ability to safely operate or work near machinery, welding equipment, and mechanical components.
Ability to visually inspect welds, measurements, materials, and finished products for quality and accuracy.
Ability to safely work in active manufacturing and fabrication environments.
