About the Role
Amteck is seeking an experienced Electrical Foreman to lead a small area of work on commercial and industrial construction projects across the country. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will work alongside your crew while overseeing approximately 10 Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman Electricians, depending on project scope and site needs.
The Electrical Foreman reports to the Lead Superintendent and is responsible for safe, high-quality installation, crew coordination, production, material planning, training, and communication with site supervision and other trades. National travel to assigned project locations is required.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, train, mentor, and support Journeyman Electricians, Apprentices, and Helpers on the job site.
- Work hands-on to install, alter, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- Maintain a strong safety culture by identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with Amteck, OSHA, NFPA, customer, and site requirements.
- Read and interpret project specifications, blueprints, electrical drawings, layouts, and schematics.
- Lay out small areas of work, including underground layouts, and identify work outside the assigned scope.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using hand tools, threaders, and manual or mechanical benders.
- Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panelboards, branch-circuit conductors, and feeder conductors.
- Determine wire, conduit, and junction-box sizing and demonstrate a working knowledge of circuitry.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of lighting and general power circuits.
- Develop material lists from drawings, area prints, and job-site needs; communicate material requirements proactively to the Lead Superintendent.
- Track production and completed work, help achieve schedule and budget goals, and assist with short-term planning.
- Coordinate professionally with other trade supervisors and help resolve work assignments in the field.
- Assist site supervision with employee paperwork and participate in crew performance reviews.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a crew while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.
- Ability to read construction documents and understand assigned scope of work.
- Ability to work project schedules that may include weekends, overtime, and extended travel assignments.
- Ability to use required tools and equipment and willingness to learn Amteck software and systems.
- Mechanical aptitude, basic math skills, and strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Must obtain OSHA 30 certification within 90 days of employment as directed by Amteck.
- Ability to achieve Amteck certifications as required.
- Must demonstrate a team-first approach, sound judgment, dependability, and a commitment to working safely.
