Job Description

Vanir is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our growing Pacific Northwest team, supporting a diverse portfolio of capital projects throughout Pierce and King Counties.

We are looking for a collaborative, motivated professional who enjoys leading projects, solving complex challenges, building strong client relationships, and delivering meaningful results for the communities we serve.

Our work supports a variety of markets, including K-12 education, higher education, healthcare, justice and essential services, transportation, aviation, water and wastewater, and other public and institutional facilities.

We welcome candidates with project or construction management experience in one or more of these markets. Experience across multiple market sectors is preferred, not required. We recognize that strong project management skills are transferable and value professionals who bring expertise in their respective fields and an interest in expanding their experience.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical project delivery experience, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of challenging projects, contribute to a collaborative team, and continue developing professionally while supporting Vanir's growing portfolio throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Projects are located throughout Tacoma (Pierce County), Seattle (King County and Port of Seattle).

Responsibilities will include providing the planning, coordination and direction for project management activities during all phases of projects to ensure they are on time, within budget and schedule, cost controlled, and project performance to ensure the requirements for the contract. Maintain management and project facilitation for successful completion and compliance with contractual, owner and Vanir requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned capital projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client objectives.
  • Serve as an owner's representative and trusted advisor, providing project management leadership and guidance to public agencies, institutional clients, nonprofit organizations, and other project owners.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project management plans, budgets, schedules, cost estimates, forecasts, procurement strategies, and project controls.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and project execution.
  • Oversee design coordination, construction administration, contract management, change orders, payment applications, quality assurance, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project performance, financial expenditures, contractual obligations, schedules, risks, and deliverables; identify project risks and challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and implement appropriate corrective actions to support successful project outcomes.
  • Provide regular project status updates, financial reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to clients and regional leadership.
  • Coordinate project planning, feasibility assessments, due diligence, permitting, jurisdictional approvals, and site development activities as applicable to assigned projects.
  • Support the delivery of publicly funded capital projects, including projects financed through bonds, grants, and other funding sources, while maintaining applicable documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Manage project activities involving renovations, new construction, facility improvements, phased construction, and occupied facilities as applicable to assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and support timely decision-making throughout project delivery.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, establish clear expectations, promote accountability, and mentor project management and construction management professionals.
  • Collaborate with project directors and regional leadership on project staffing, resource planning, workload coordination, and successful execution of client commitments.
  • Ensure assigned projects comply with applicable regulations, safety requirements, contractual obligations, and client standards.
  • Represent Vanir professionally in client meetings, stakeholder discussions, public presentations, and industry events.
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement, identification of new opportunities, proposal development, and interview participation.
  • Promote consistent project delivery practices, continuous improvement, teamwork, and a strong commitment to client service.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, construction management, or capital project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex capital projects through multiple phases of delivery.
  • Experience coordinating project teams, consultants, and contractors.
  • Strong working knowledge of project budgets, scheduling, contracts, procurement, construction administration, and project controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage projects while maintaining strong client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project or construction management experience in one or more market sectors, including K-12 education, higher education, healthcare, justice and essential services, transportation, aviation, water and wastewater, or other public and institutional facilities.
  • Experience delivering capital projects across multiple market sectors.
