Software Quality Engineer

Our client is seeking a skilled Software Quality Engineer to join their technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing scalable automated testing solutions to ensure software quality, reliability and performance. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, enhance automation frameworks and contribute to continuous improvement within an Agile and DevOps environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and execute reusable automated test scripts using established testing frameworks and tools.
• Implement automated testing solutions across applications, APIs and DevOps pipelines.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, business analysts and QA leads to ensure effective test coverage and quality delivery.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement and retrospectives.
• Identify, log and manage defects, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
• Conduct functional, integration, performance and non-functional testing.
• Continuously improve test automation frameworks, processes and quality assurance standards.
• Mentor junior software test engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in IT, Computer Science or a related field (BSc IT or BCom IT preferred).
• 3–6 years' experience in software testing, test analysis, test automation or software development.
• ISTQB Agile Foundation certification; ISTQB Advanced certification advantageous.
• Agile and DevOps training or practical experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and development languages such as Java.
• Experience with automation tools and frameworks, including Selenium, Appium, RestAssured, Karate, Jira and JMeter.
• Experience in SOAP and RESTful API test automation.
• Exposure to mobile test automation, performance testing and load testing.
• Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of non-functional testing, solution architecture and defect management processes.
• Basic understanding of service virtualisation, data virtualisation and vulnerability testing.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
