Job duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Primary Function:
The Lead will coordinate the daily activities within the department, under direction of the department supervisor, to ensure efficient use of all Associates’ time and efforts in meeting our department and plant goals. Embrace and support KHMS.
Specific Duties:
- Take leadership in routine production problem solving.
- Coordinate period cleaning programs and monthly checks.
- Relieve employees in department as needed as a secondary operator, palletizer operator, and material handler
- Ensure day to day employee coverage. Follow all plant overtime policy and procedures
- Involvement in plant optimization through daily problem solving, 30/60/90 day plans for your shift, and upskilling your operators
- Provide/ensure explanation of all deviations in procedures and line process checks.
- Assist in process equipment and procedure changes. Assist in training your crew in any equipment or procedure changes.
- Ensure proper sanitation and inspection of equipment after daily and periodic cleaning or maintenance work. Ensure all operators are trained and ready to clean Capri Secondary as directed by the process owner/area manager
- Responsible for minor maintenance items such as splicing belts, replacing hot/cold bars, aligning chains on sprockets, and leading gen 2 pucks and breaks overhauls as needed
- Must be a competent forklift operator /certified. Must be currently certified as a secondary operator, palletizer operator, or material handler. If not currently certified, willing to learn the basics and cover the floor as needed due to call offs and vacation
- Knowledge on completing appropriate paperwork for all areas and conducting respective inventories. Keep up with various audits such as 5S/CL/CIL audits, health checks, and glass & brittle plastic audits
- Maintain legible neat and accurate records, documentation, reports, etc. Ensure operators records are neat, accurate, and support good documentation practices
- Verify material handler paperwork to support plant financials and inventory accuracy
- Maintain correct and accurate payroll documentation in the current HR timekeeping system for assigned associates.
- Ensure good communication between different shifts and departments
- Assist with new associate training.
- Perform sanitation responsibilities as needed and/or required.
- Utilize ZPI to gather performance data and chart at the end of each shift. Lead sending shift handoff reports for your shift or for any overtime coverage. Identify top issues to management/your process owner and develop countermeasures.
- Actively support KHMS initiatives and the pursuit of ZERO safety incidents, ZERO defects, ZERO quality holds, ZERO stops, ZERO material loss, and positive employee engagement
- Work with area owners daily to eliminate stops and prevent them from ever happening again. Continuously think outside the box and continuously question the status quo in the pursuit of running more efficient
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Productivity Responsibility:
- Actively participate in team goal setting/implementation to ensure that we are the low-cost, high-quality producer.
- Strive to maximize the efficiency of the plant/department by submitting and implementing process improvements.
- Come up with daily plan in green rooms to maximize employee safety, protect product quality, and improve efficiency. Execute that daily plan with the support of the trio and process owner/management
Quality Responsibility:
- Ensure the quality of our products and our workplace by following all procedures and guidelines.
- Comply with all established GMP's, HACCP guidelines, housekeeping responsibilities.
- Ensure all quality documentation is accurate in the current quality management system. Ensure employees have good documentation for all required material movements within the department such as straws, pouches, etc.
Safety Responsibility:
- Actively participate in team safety efforts to achieve/exceed plant goals.
- Involvement & supportive of Safety activities.
- Required to perform all duties safely & use discretion to prevent injuries to self-and/or others.
- Lead teammates in completing all KHMS activities supporting safety such as safety defects, BOS, etc.
Qualifications:
- Able to work well within a team environment as well as work effectively with all associates.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- People management skills such as coaching, motivating, and reporting employee performance issues to management
- Understanding of requirements and importance of documentation.
- Demonstrate leadership ability, positive attitude, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A working knowledge of safety guidelines and problem-solving abilities are a must.
- Learn all departmental processes. Be currently qualified as a secondary operator, palletizer operator, material handler or be willing to learn the basics of all 3 jobs.
- Computer skills such as ZPI, Microsoft office products. Especially need to be proficient in outlook and excel.
- Strong belief in the benefit of learning, coaching others and promoting teamwork.
- Knowledge of HR timekeeping systems, quality management systems, ZPI, Excel and Matrics
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to coach team to determine root cause for problems and prevent reoccurrence
- Ability to assist with maintenance with troubleshooting and making repairs such as conveyor belt splices/repairs, changing out seal bars, replacing and/or maintaining conveyor parts (pucks, brakes, etc.)
- Able to lift 40 lbs.
- Able to cover the floor as needed due to call offs.
- Willing to be cross trained in any area in the department as directed by the process owner
