About the role
- Be the friendly, professional Voice and Face of St Vincent’s Hospital, welcoming and assisting patients, staff, and the public over the phone.
- Take charge in urgent situations, responding confidently to emergencies, contacting the Mental Health Crisis Team, and liaising with Security when needed.
- Provide compassionate support to callers experiencing distress, including challenges with drugs, alcohol, or mental health issues.
- Keep critical hospital Switchboard operations running smoothly by managing and updating medical rosters, directories, and administrative systems.
- Enjoy a dynamic, 7-day rotating roster that may include day, evening, overnight shifts, with your main focus as Sacred Heart Receptionist (7:00 am – 8:30 pm daily).
About you
- Experienced and confident in challenging environments, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Switchboard/contact centre or receptionist experience highly regarded, with strong skills in managing calls and enquiries professionally.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to manage difficult situations and provide exceptional patient service independently.
- Decision-makers under pressure, able to implement emergency procedures accurately and maintain calm in high-stress situations.
- Professional and adaptable, well-presented with the ability to engage with staff, patients, and the public, and flexible to work night shifts as part of a rotating roster.
