Description
Job Summary:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design and development of core systems that drive JioStar’s advertising capabilities - from ad delivery and targeting to measurement and optimization. You’ll own large-scale projects end to end, operate with autonomy, and play a key role in shaping the architecture and future direction of our high-throughput, low-latency systems. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive on solving hard distributed systems problems and mentoring others toward engineering excellence.
About the Team:
JioStar’s Ad Platform is among the top video advertising platforms in India - and we’re aiming higher. With deep expertise across Video-On-Demand, Live Sports, and Ad Monetization, our vision is to build the most effective and scalable adtech ecosystem in the world.
Our engineering team builds across the full adtech stack - from high-throughput backend services to deeply integrated, high-impact ad experiences on client platforms. Name a technology, and chances are we’ve worked with it. But more than the tools, it’s the problems we solve that make the work exciting.
If you’re excited about building fast, learning continuously, and working on a product that sits at the center of content, monetization, and user experience, we’d love to talk.
Key responsibilities
Design and build scalable, resilient microservices that power JioStar’s ad tech stack
Own end-to-end delivery of complex backend projects, from technical design to deployment and monitoring
Write high-quality, maintainable code, and ensure rigorous testing and fault tolerance
Drive architectural decisions and influence long-term engineering strategy for the team
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into tech solutions
Take ownership of operational excellence, including performance tuning, incident response, and root cause analysis
Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical deep dives and code reviews, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing
Skills and attributes for success:
Proficiency in Java, Golang, or Python
Experience designing and building distributed systems at scale
Strong understanding of storage systems, query performance, and caching strategies
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), messaging systems (Kafka), and CI/CD pipelines
Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage delivery timelines in fast-paced environments
You are passionate about growing engineers and leading by example
Curious about how advertising systems work and how to optimize them for user and business outcomes
Preferred education and experience:
Bachelors/master's in computer science or a related field with 4–6 years of experience in backend development
