As a School Based Support Specialist, you will provide intensive outpatient case management and behavioral health support services to youth within school settings. You will work closely with students, families, schools, and treatment teams to deliver individualized interventions, coordinate care, and support treatment goals that promote recovery, resilience, and academic success. Services are primarily provided on school campuses during school hours, with additional support delivered in homes and community settings when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver behavioral health interventions and intensive outpatient case management services aligned with individualized treatment plans.
• Support youth in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving abilities, social skills, and daily living skills.
• Coordinate care and collaborate with families, schools, community agencies, healthcare providers, and other members of the treatment team.
• Maintain an assigned caseload and ensure services are delivered in a timely, effective, and person-centered manner.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide crisis intervention, follow-up support, and outreach services when needed.
• Conduct home visits and community-based outreach to enhance engagement and support treatment goals.
• Assist with quality assurance activities, program reporting, data collection, and compliance initiatives.
• Participate in supervision, staff meetings, training opportunities, and professional development activities.
• Promote student success, recovery, resiliency, school engagement, and overall well-being.
• Adapt interventions and services to meet changing student needs and support program objectives.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and positive outcomes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Human Services, or a related field; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with two (2) years of qualifying behavioral health experience; OR
• Any combination of four (4) years of higher education and two (2) years of qualifying behavioral health experience; OR
• Associate degree in Applied Science with a concentration in Behavioral Health Support; OR
• Four (4) years of full-time qualifying experience in behavioral health services.

Qualifying experience may include:

• Providing individual or group behavioral health services.
• Supporting recovery and resiliency goals.
• Teaching coping skills and emotional regulation strategies.
• Assisting individuals with school, community, employment, or independent living functioning.
• Implementing treatment plan goals and behavioral interventions.

Required License/Certification:

• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current automobile insurance required.
• Must meet all applicable state, program, and contractual credentialing requirements.

Additional Qualifications:

• Knowledge of behavioral health case management, rehabilitation methods, and treatment planning.
• Understanding of challenges experienced by youth and families affected by mental health and/or substance use conditions.
• Familiarity with ethical, legal, and procedural standards in behavioral healthcare.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community providers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including crisis de-escalation and documentation.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to coordinate services across multiple systems and agencies.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Commitment to providing person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability to supervision and organizational standards.
• Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the evolving needs of students and school environments.

Supervisory Requirements:

• None.

Employment Requirements:

• Successful completion of background screening, including criminal history, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks.
• Completion of New Hire Orientation upon hire.
• Completion of all required training, including Relias training, upon hire and annually thereafter.
• Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of automobile insurance.
• Compliance with all agency policies, procedures, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to provide services within school settings, client homes, and community environments as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform sedentary work, including sitting for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Frequent use of hands, fingers, and arms for typing, documentation, and electronic record management.
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift materials weighing up to 10 pounds.
• Ability to travel between schools, homes, community locations, and agency offices as required.
• Ability to respond appropriately during crisis situations and emergency interventions.
• Visual ability to read documents and work on computer screens for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication platforms.
• Sedentary work may require occasional walking or standing; all other sedentary work criteria apply.
