Are you an ambitious finance professional looking to take the next step in your accounting career?

We are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant on behalf of a growing and well-established business based in York. This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT-qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA candidate to join a supportive finance team and gain exposure to management accounting, business partnering, and commercial finance activities.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the production of management accounts and financial reporting, whilst supporting the wider finance function with analysis and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts

• Produce and maintain accruals, prepayments, and journal entries

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Prepare monthly financial reports and KPI analysis

• Assist with cash flow reporting and monitoring

• Analyse business performance and provide meaningful financial insights

• Support year-end audit activities and statutory reporting requirements

• Assist with process improvement initiatives across the finance function

• Liaise with departmental managers to provide financial information and support

• Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures

About You

• AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA

• Previous experience within a Management Accounts, Assistant Accountant, Finance Analyst, or similar finance role

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes

• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across departments
